Default Re: Switching Accounts on Download

Mr. Learner,

Thank you very much for your help, you got me pointed in the right
direction. From going through the experience, I offer the following
improvements/information regarding the solution:

1) In order to blank the Financial Institution, one must first turn off the
online updates for that download...an important first step that Money seemed
more than happy to point out, but did not provide any instruction on how to
do (I eventually found it, but I'm not at my CPU and I've slept since fixing
it...or else I'd put those instructions here for others to follow)

2) In order to change the currency for fix #2 in your link, you also have to
turn off online updates for the account -- and after having gone through
their instuctions, I prefer your solution--much easier than switching around
everything and turning the program on and off.

3) The requirement in method 2 of turning the program on and off is not
necessary.

4) Rather than just do one account--do both accounts that were getting mixed
up...there is probably a reason Money no longer is doing what it was supposed
to be doing--in this case I think the problem arose because the "Name" of the
accounts changed--even if the account numbers themselves didn't. That was
the only thing in common with both problem accounts that I could find...I'm
hoping that will be the end my issues.

5) Putting the FI account back involves restarting Online Updates for the
accounts. Which isn't nearly the same process--it involves refinding your
financial institution and retyping your logon and password--things users will
need to get/re-remind themselves prior to going through the process.

With all that being said, I can't thank you enough for your help. I was
getting truly frustrated with the process and didn't have a hope of fixing it.

Cheers,
Geoff

If this does not apply to you, explain what differs in your case:

If OFX Web statements are placed in the wrong account, blank the
Financial Institution (FI) for the *wrong* account in account
settings. Do that in the Account Settings/Details, which you can
reach by right-clicking the account name on the Account List. Don't
just change the FI. Blank it.

On the Account List, if there are transactions to read for the
wrong account, right-click TransactionsToRead, and then click
Delete Statement.

Import the OFX file. Money should ask which account to use. Tell
Money the statement should go onto the right account.

Put the FI for the *wrong* account back.

If that does not fix it, see method 2 of
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/910214/en-us where you temporarily
change the currency of the wrong account.

Default Switching Accounts on Download

To Whom Can Help:

MS Money 2007 has started downloading account information into the wrong
account--it is swapping it with another account.

This happened in a previous version of Money and I don't know how to correct
it.

In the previous version it was with a Banking account--two savings accounts
from the same institution.
In this incarnation, it is with two investment accounts--mutual fund versus
brokerage account--but from the same institution.

Anyone have this happen to them...anyone know of a solution?

Thanks for your help.

Cheers.
