Default Re: Quicken 2005 to Money 2006 Standard OEM

I've had the same problem...way too many transactions without categories,
especially transfers. It is a VERY painstaking job to try to correct them
all, even with find and replace. In addition, in Money Plus, at least, find
and replace does not give you the opportunity to select a transfer as the
category, even though you can select this if you go to the acutal transaction
in the register. If you make the change in the register, you end up with
duplicate transactions in the account you transferred to. Instead of
changing the transaction, it creates a new one, because, of course, Money
didn't track it correctly in the first place. So you need to also delete all
those dups! This will keep me from upgrading to Money, even if Quicken
becomes impossible. I've got version 2006, due to be retired soon.

Thanks Cal. I wondered if there was a 'quick and dirty' method. I'll give
it a try.

One thing to consider is Tools-> Find&Replace. Make an extra
copy/backup of your file first in case you want to undo something.

Then find the transactions for a particular Payee or Memo content.
Change the Category to what you want. Experiment, knowing you can
undo by restoring or switching to the file copy.

I don't think it should.

You might like the effect of setting
Tools-> Settings-> Categories-> UseTheDualCategoryDropdownControl
If you don't, change it back.

Default Quicken 2005 to Money 2006 Standard OEM

I love the Money graphs and standard reports. NO comparison to Quicken. So
I converted my Quicken 2005 data to Money 2006.

I don't remember any error messages, but as soon as I started using reports
by categories there are HUNDREDS of transactions with no categories.

This means I have to look each transaction up in Quicken and then edit it in
Money.

Should I try another conversion? I use sub-categories in Quicken, like
"Food:Bev" - is that creating a problem?
