| I've had the same problem...way too many transactions without categories, especially transfers. It is a VERY painstaking job to try to correct them all, even with find and replace. In addition, in Money Plus, at least, find and replace does not give you the opportunity to select a transfer as the category, even though you can select this if you go to the acutal transaction in the register. If you make the change in the register, you end up with duplicate transactions in the account you transferred to. Instead of changing the transaction, it creates a new one, because, of course, Money didn't track it correctly in the first place. So you need to also delete all those dups! This will keep me from upgrading to Money, even if Quicken becomes impossible. I've got version 2006, due to be retired soon. "PRFreimann" wrote: - quote - > Thanks Cal. | Thanks Cal. I wondered if there was a 'quick and dirty' method. I'll give it a try. -- Phil at Daytona Beach "Cal Learner-- MVP" wrote: - quote - > In microsoft.public.money, PRFreimann wrote: > > I love the Money graphs and standard reports. I don't think it should.> "Food:Bev" - is that creating a problem? You might like the effect of setting Tools-> Settings-> Categories-> UseTheDualCategoryDropdownControl If you don't, change it back. |

| I love the Money graphs and standard reports. NO comparison to Quicken. So I converted my Quicken 2005 data to Money 2006. I don't remember any error messages, but as soon as I started using reports by categories there are HUNDREDS of transactions with no categories. This means I have to look each transaction up in Quicken and then edit it in Money. Should I try another conversion? I use sub-categories in Quicken, like "Food:Bev" - is that creating a problem? -- Phil at Daytona Beach |
