You're right it can be done with reports. I was referring to Jane's original> creating a custom report for each prefix. This is a sub-optimal solution. post where she inquired about grouping in the account list, which I presumed to be the screen not reports. |

| Jane, Money doesn't offer much for grouping accounts. Your idea of prefixing accounts will work, but obviously it won't provide subtotals by group. I prefix my investment accounts this way so that multiple accounts held at a single institution appear together. I have yet to discover any hidden problems. I use a slightly different technique than your example: I use a 3 letter prefix to allow easy identification of groups. For example, investment accounts held at Bank of America are prefixed with BOA. Fidelity is prefixed with FID. Three letter prefixes just makes it easier for me. It would be very nice if Money allowed user-defined grouping, as opposed to the very broad groups currently offered. |

Money Business doesn't do anything differently for credit cards--they're all treated the same. All my business accounts start with "NL-" so they sort together on drop-down lists. -- Steve Bell New Life Home Improvement Arlington, TX |

I hadn't considered upgrading, but if > that was a built in feature of a new version, I might. don't think Business version would help that by maybe letting you separate business from persona cards, but I don't know for sure. If you wanted a good excuse to buy a bigger monitor, you could use that to show more accounts without scrolling. Maybe you could get one that can rotate to portrait mode. |

Are other versions of Money better equipped to deal with that? I hadn't considered upgrading, but if that was a built in feature of a new version, I might. |

| I was wondering if there is a work around for the order of accounts in the account list in Money Plus Premium. Specifically I'd like to group some of my credit accounts (i.e. - travel cards, cash back, business cards). Since this doesn't seem to be a standard option (unless I am over looking something) I was wondering about putting a letter before each of the account names to group them. i.e. - "B credit card name" groups all the Business cards, "R credit card name" all the reward cards, etc. Good approach? Does this have some hidden problem I am missing? Or better yet - any other ideas about how to group cards with in the Credit account list (besides by name, balance, etc). |
