It's documented that investment accounts must be imported only with Recover Accounts. Unfortunately, that does not reduce duplicates as well as importing statements can. Even the latter isn't foolproof, though.

Excellent, while a bit of a bear, the Recover Accounts idea worked. Thanks
Cal!

Yep. That's a QIF... but not the "statement" type from Money's point
of view.

I believe you will need to choose File-> Import-> RecoverAccounts (or
the equivalent if you are using an older version).

If you have more than one related QIF import, do them all at once.

If that does not work then this QIF may not be compatible with
Money. You could see what Money wants by entering some test data
into a test file and doing QIF exports. Examine the resulting QIF
files.

I get the same error if I do an Import from within Money.

First line in notepad is:

!Type:Invst

If they are really QIF files, you might try File-> Import from within
Money.

However I wonder if they really are QIF files. If you open the file
in Notepad or other simple text editor, what is the first line?

Default Investment QIF Import in Vista

So I've been trying endlessly to important Fidelity QIF files into Microsoft
Money Plus Premium on my Vista computer. I get the error "An unaccepted QIF
transaction header was encountered. Transactions under that header have been
skipped. If you were trying to import an Investment QIF, click here for more
information"

I tried to follow the instructions to change the way QIFs are handled, but
in Vista, there is no "File Types" tab or anything like it. Can anyone help
translate the below rules into Vista-compatible steps? Thanks.

To change the way Windows downloads QIF files, follow these steps:

1. Right-click Start, and then click Explore.

2. On the Tools menu, click Folder Options.

3. Click the File Types tab.

4. In the Registered file types list, click Quicken Import File, and
then click Edit or Advanced.

5. Select the Confirm open after download check box, and then click OK.

6. Click OK.

7. Exit Windows Explorer.

When you download a QIF file after these steps, Windows will ask you to open
the file or save it to disk. For investment QIF files, choose the Save option
to save the file to your hard disk or a floppy disk.
