That *.mn8 file is the copy of your Money 98 file that Money 2005
kept. If you did not have version 14.0.120.1105 when you first
installed, you might try re-converting now with a copy of the *.mn8
file with a *.mny name.

Also see if you can open sample.mny that is in your install folder.

If the conversion process got far enough to create the new *.mny
file, you could try
File-> RepairMoneyFile-> StandardFileRepair level 2
to make a repaired version of that converted file while sample.mny
is open.

I am desperate and at the point of chucking MS Money. I have been using Money
98 until 3 weeks ago. Money 98 crashed, lost some data and I decided to
upgrade to the latest available version which for the international version
(I live in South Africa) seems to be Money 2005.
I installed Money 2005 succesfully and after it has upgraded the Money 98
file to 2005, the computer screen goes blank for about 8 minutes and then
reports C++ library error R6025 - pure virtual function call. I have tried
kb240437 and looked at kb125749 and just about everything else I could find
on the web to no avail. If I now start money 2005 and open the converted
file, I get the same result with error R6025. Any help will be highly
appreciated.
I am running Money 14.0.120.1105 on XP SP 3
