| "Nuke the bills" might provide you considerable improvements. But I cannot recommend it without you first reading http://umpmfaq.info/faqdb.php?q=187. You might want to try it on a COPY of your data file to see if it will solve your issues before going to all the trouble necessary to recover from having done the "nuke" step. In most any situation that "nuke the bills" will help, this recovery will be at least somewhat easier than File|New. "Tom P." wrote: - quote - > Is this going to get faster? First, make sure your version from Help-> About is 17.0.*.1415. If it> about 17Mb). I installed Money Plus and tried to open the file. 5:30 > later it was still opening the file. Is there something I should do? If I have > to start over how do I get Money Plus to ask me to start a new file? is not, right-click the Money icon and choose RunAsAdministrator to let potential updates happen. Or alternatively for saving time in your case, browse to "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Money Plus\sample.mny" with Windows explorer. Right-click that file and choose RunAsAdministrator. Reboot the computer. You should not have to run as Administrator normally. If the version is 17.0.*.1415 and startup is still slow, I think you should consider File-> Repair-> RemoveAllBillsData This Remove All Bills Data feature would be for people who have experienced their Money file to run excessively slow. To get some information within the program, File-> Repair-> RemoveAllBillsData Read the information. Then click cancel. Before proceeding, make an extra copy or backup of your file in case you want to undo something. The problem will be that if you remove all bills, you will probably want to add at least some of your bills back. This can be done manually with the aid of the reports that you print out before removing the bills. A technique that could help simplify re-entering your bills afterward would be to go your register and selecting a representative instance of your past bill and selecting "Make Recurring" (Ctrl+E). This would be especially helpful if the bill is complex, such as involving a split. |

| I have a Money file that's been upgraded from 2004SB to 2006 (it's about 17Mb). I installed Money Plus and tried to open the file. 5:30 later it was still opening the file. When I installed Money Plus I tried making a new mny file and it was fine. Then I opened the 2004SB file and it is taking forever. When I got up this morning it had gotten far enough to display the graphs and such on the home page, but was still busy doing something. Is this going to get faster? Is there something I should do? If I have to start over how do I get Money Plus to ask me to start a new file? Thanks for the help. Tom P. |
