| I am having the same problem. I was pretty happy with my old version of MS Money (doing very basic stuff). But my old machine is about to trashed and I don't have the installation CD. Just downloaded and installed Money Essentials but it don't even let me open the old file. From the posts in this thread, I think that I have buy the "Money Plus" (+$10). |

| Money Essentials is a useless product and will not import data from older (or current year) Money Standard/Deluxe/Premium products. You need to purchase Money Deluxe. You can return Essentials under the 30 day Money Back Guarantee. I had no idea there was a CDN version of Essentials. If there is no CDN version of Deluxe, you will probably have to ressort to the fake address gamit (your credit card is most likely OK though) -- Peace, BobJ "harley" <harley[at]discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:90DACB4F-DADC-4899-A42B-7E1773E184F9[at]microsoft.com... - quote - > I have downloaded money essentials( cdn version)...I had an old copy that > was > a us version that expired...now with the new one downloaded I try to log > on > to start and it says it "money essentials is unable to open other files > from > other versions of money". | There is no new CDN version of Money. There is a US version that should be able to use your prior CDN file but it will not have CDN income tax, capital gains, retirement rules. Instead you will get US rules only. What is more, when your trial runs out you will not be able to buy the new version using a Canadian address. You can fake it by using an international credit card and giving a fake USA address. In the long run, why don't you just keep what you have now. -- Peace, BobJ "Cal Learner-- MVP" <via_newsgroup[at]please.tnx> wrote in message news:84qt44pj47n1pen0p7fqhcfhtjfs1gl4bl[at]4ax.com... - quote - > In microsoft.public.money, harley wrote: > > I have just downloaded a new version of Money ( canadian).
