And regarding your question, yes. This assumes that your
distributions were reinvested. It also assumes that there was no
Sell or RemoveShares to pay for a fee.

From the Portfolio, right-click the investment and choose
InvestmentActivities. Make sure you are taking into account all of
the activities of the fund.

I guess I didn't really take that into consideration. I do have Long/short
term cap gains dist as well as a dividend. Thinking this through now....My
initial investmet was $686 but with my cap gains and dividend I received
roughly $40 so that would make my cost basis $726 correct? However, only the
initial investment of $686 came out of my pocket. If the current value of
that fund is $642 then my loss is $42(initial inv - market value) as opposed
to $84(cost of everything - market value). I guess what I'm not grasping at
the moment is how Money says my loss is only $4. That is what is perplexing
me and what seems to be throwing my numbers off. I've comapred the
transactions in money with my brokerage account to make sure the dates,
prices and quantities are correct.
Thanks for the help

Could it be that you were paid $78.58 in dividends? Dividends are
real money.

If you are in the "dividends don't matter" camp, or if you want to
see your basis change for selecting tax sales etc, configure in the
PriceAppreciation to your Portfolio view with
ChangePortfolioView-> CustomizeCurrentView-> PortfolioColumns.

Default Incorrent gains in portfolio

I'm using Money 2006 Deluxe. So riddle me this.....How does Money figure
that I have a $1.32 gain when my cost basis is $724.71 but the current value
is $647.45? Correct me if I'm wrong but that is a loss of $77.26. I've got
about 7 different inventstments where the cost basis is higher than the
market value but Money shows that there is a gain instead of a loss. I even
started a new file and manually put in all of the transactions and it still
did the same thing. Has anyone else had this same experience? If so, what
did you do to fix it?
Thanks,
Mark
