| Good point. I've been wondering exactly what the threshold is for "wiped out". Does is have to go to $0? | If you find 2005 (try eBay), be aware that it needs a big patch downloaded once you have installed out of the box. Recommended method is to install 2005 but don't open your main .mny file, rather find the sample.mny file, double click on that and Money will open and should down load the patch. Then you can navigate to your main file, double click on that and it will upgrade to 2005. -- Regards Bob Peel, Microsoft MVP - Money For unofficial FAQs see http://money.mvps.org/ or http://umpmfaq.info/ I do not respond to any emails that I have not specifically asked for. | If this is not a further imposition, Mr. Peel, can you tell me if the UK version 2005 will read files created by a UK version 2000 or 2001? Or will it still be necessary to find either the UK version 2000 or 2001 (I'm not sure which I had) and restore from my backup file then reexport in a loose QIF format? I gather use of this QIF format is the preferred method of porting financial data to later versions of Money. If I'm abusing your good offices with this request, kindly disregard. Thank you. | I think I'll do that if I can ever get my hands on another version of UK Money. I've got some Money versions winging their way to me now and I hope they will work with my backup files. I don't have complicated finances so I don't need any of the bells and whistles. My only problem, really, is not having the UK version. It worked fine for me and should for all time, I'm thinking. One problem I've had is figuring out what version of UK Money I had. Since I reinstalled Windows I can only guess at the version. Hopefully, I'll solve this problem by trial and error. Thanks for your suggestion and the the input of Mr. Learner and Mr. Watson. | I inadvertently chose a UK version to use back in 2000 and thought the Money 2001 CD I had was the same software. It was the US version and after backing up religously over the years I now find on having to reinstall Windows XP after a bad virus that it's a royal pain to try to find another copy of the UK version to install and use or with which to export my "incompatible" files with 7+ years of data. | There are many differences between regions apart from the obvious one of check vs cheque. Tax laws are different, capital gains treatment is different etc etc. A single program would be enormous and because of all the variations almost impossible to debug. -- Regards Bob Peel, Microsoft MVP - Money For unofficial FAQs see http://money.mvps.org/ or http://umpmfaq.info/ I do not respond to any emails that I have not specifically asked for.
