Thanks everyone for your contributions. To stretch the analogy even further,
it looks like I'm using a sledgehammer to crack a walnut. But crack it I
will!

I don't often stray into Microsoft forums, but if any of you guys ever need
to discuss networks, I hang out most days in the Cisco NetPro forum.

Cheers

So maybe we could hammer this a different way, if only as a
challenge.

If you are entering scout uniforms as stocks, the
PerformanceByInvestmentType report could be useful.... at least it
includes cost basis.

Investing-> InvestingTools-> CapitalGainsEstimator-> GetStarted-> EstimateCapitalGains
could be interesting to play with.

Still, as Dick points out, a spreadsheet could be simpler.

Cal got to the issue at hand: a net worth report that did what you ask for
would not be a net worth report.

One of the * Business * editions which might better accomodate what you are
trying to do. Another much better alternative would be to use Excel or even
Access. What you are doing is certainly creative but it's kinda from the
"when the only tool you have is a hammer, everything starts looking like a
nail" school.

I organise the uniform stores for my local scout group, so I have to keep
track of what uniforms I have in stock. I am leveraging the "Investments"
functionality to do this. Of course, when I produce my accounts for the
committee, I have to value the uniform stocks at the purchase price, which is
slightly different from the selling price (by an amount that covers the
shipping charges we pay).

So the uniform stocks have to be entered on the balance sheet at historic
cost price.

I have already found the cost basis on the portfolio, but that means I have
to generate my accounts report by hand.

Kevin.

No. How would that be related to net worth?

I suggest you consider configuring in the CostBasis column into your
Portfolio view.

Oh. That's not very good, is it!

Thanks for the reply though.

Default Using cost basis for net worth report

I would like my "Net Worth" report to show my investments on a cost basis
(i.e. at the price I bought them), not as their current price. Is there any
way I can do that?
