If you want to do the QIF export/import, I would follow the steps in http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;178830 except in the first step 4, I would suggest this: start the name of the QIF file for the investment accounts with an underscore (_), and start the name of QIF files for the cash accounts associated with the investments with a letter. Thus you might have _BrownInvestment.qif and BrownInvestmentCash.qif. This would cause the investment account to be processed prior to the associated cash account. When the BrownInvestment got created, you would specify that you want to track the cash transactions. Then specify that the cash transactions account for BrownInvestment was where the BrownInvestmentCash.qif transactions get sent. Then File-> Import ALL AT ONCE using Ctrl+<click> to select files. Specify "New or Recovered" account when asked. Of course you will use a different filename for the new file, and you will have both versions to choose from when done. I would also set up the backups to make sure they are using different names. <snip - quote - > I've figured out what I believe is a solution. I brought my system

I have an older backup but the problem continued there. I didn't goback too far though because that would be to many transaction to enter. - quote - > You could try File-> Repair-> RemoveAllBillsData. I don't expect it to

I've figured out what I believe is a solution. I brought my systemto a Vista restore point before this started occuring. My newer files still have the issue but my April 15 file is ok. Money for some reason has to download an update and install. I don't remember having to update Money for some time but ok. I think a Vista Update may have interferred with Money. I haven't installed any Vista Updates from the last three days. I'm also trying to install Money on another PC next to this one so I can view the month and a half worth of transactions that I'll need to enter on the current PC. That's assuming I don't run into the same problem. But that machine has it's on problems. After a fresh install, I get this when starting Money: Money was unable to load the registration library (dll). Go figure. By the way, MS Money Support had no suggestions for me on the transaction issue. They closed the case unresolved. I'm going to call about the dll issue. Hopefully I'll have better luck... |

You could try opening sample.mny or make a new blank file. If either shows the same problem, then you would figure the problem is with the installation. That is unlikely, I am afraid. Do you have an older backup on other media? You could try File-> Repair-> RemoveAllBillsData. I don't expect it to solve your problem, but it seems worth a long shot try. You could do QIF export from your problem file and import into a new file. If you want to try that, say so. There are some considerations. Check back for hints. Also, when you get things going again, increase the number of backups that Money keeps from the default 4 to maybe 20 or 90. Also back up to other media on occasion. |

I would File-> Restore a backup from a time before the problem, started. You can choose a new filename rather than choosing the default location if you do not want to overwrite an existing transaction. Alternatively, open Money and start the restore by launching the selected *.mbf file from Windows explorer. Also consider increasing the number of backup that Money keeps beyond the default 4. Regarding the credit card account showing transactions to read, that can be dealt with. But more critical is the "The transaction > cannot be entered" error. |

| I'm using Money Plus Deluxe v17. I keep getting "The transaction cannot be entered" when I try to enter anything into my banking register. I also have downloaded credit card statements that show new transactions. When I go to that account, there are no new transactions. This started about two days ago. I've had no luck trying the following: - uninstalled/reinstalled Money - level 1 file repair - level 2 file repair never has worked Any suggestions? |
