Is your AccountCurrency in AU$? If so, you could either enter your
total in AU$, or enter the Total in another currency, press F8,
select the country and enter the exchange rate that actually applied
at the time of the buy. Then the register would show the price in
AU$.

For example, suppose you bought 100 US:MSFT five years ago for
US$26. So enter the buy, for the total enter 2600, press F8, and
select US$, and enter a 1.5:1 rate for the exchange rate. The total
now shows 3900. It would be best to enter a memo that this was
US$2600.

Update prices, and download US:MSFT at US$26.23. Does the Portfolio
show you made money? No. It shows you lost, because the account is
in AU$.

So that is how I think it should work. It would maintain your basis
in AU$ for your taxes.

e The price, when you updated (US:MSFT for example) would show the
US$ price in the LastPrice column, and the calculations would
reflect

I'm using the US 2007 deluxe version here too. I download in OFX format from
my Westpac accounts with no problem.

Investments in foreign currencies are a major problem as the 'cost basis' on
those has no fx rate associated with purchase data. Cost is calculated at
the current fx rate - which is useless data. But if you don't have foreign
investments that wouldn't worry you.

I don't use tax features except to identify categories as tax items. I just
transfer info over to an excel sheet.

The "Australian" version was actually called "International".

AFAIK they have never even tried. there has never been an Australian
version. So presumably someone crunched some make believe numbers and
they went from there. I will eventually have to pay the $450 for
Quicken... a shame.

The main reason MS canned virtually everything but US Money was that the
sales in Country didn't cover the cost of localisation.

Default Money Plus for Australia

Something dear to my heart, would be to have an Australian localised
version of Money Plus. I am using the US version now and it is fine
for the most except:

Searching for share information is a little tricky.
unable to use most of the investing tools as they only apply to us
shares.
I can setup a 10% tax but H&B doesnt support a BAS (business activity
statement for GST).

Not downloading statements is a minor issue as most Aust banks don't
allow the interaction anyway.. very backwards.

I hope Microsoft will one day see what a huge market they have here,
as the main software in Australia is horrendously overpriced and
nowhere as good.
