Don't set up bogus email accounts and perhaps someone will be willing to
give you personalized help for free.

BTW is Quicken free? How do you know their service is no worse?

I've used MS Money "no charge" help for MoneyPlus Dlx and haven't
experienced any problems with it, although the process was slow. Possibly
you have an older version of Money, out of the free help period? Anyway, I
just tied it again and it was processing a help request without charging me.
I started here and just followed the directions (start worrying only if they
ask for a credit card number):

http://support.microsoft.com/oas/def...9&gprid=524453

That said, the price of Money is low. Too low, I think, to expect much
(beyond an initial period) in the way of free support. It just isn't priced
into the product.

BTW, this group is fantastic. All volunteer, it demands only that your
question be clearly stated and you expect no more of them than is
reasonable. They've straightened me out on several things. Try your
question again, making sure the version of Money is included and you're as
clear as possible.

What was the question?

I see two in this thread:

- quote -

> Where am I going wrong trying to get help?

and

- quote -

> Does Microsoft monitor the forum???????

To which my answers were:

- quote -

> Your problem may be one none of the regulars know how to solve. You may
> not

have been clear or provided enough info. I have no clue as I can't recall
your prior posting and you give no hint.

- quote -

> Microsoft does not monitor this newsgroup actively as a matter of policy,
though they do occasionally post--but generally not as "Microsoft". The
intent of this newsgroup is user-to-user.

Not all of us use the Microsoft http interface. If you change the title of
the thread, it looks like a new thread to those of us who don't use the http
interface. I see two threads started by "john":

"Charge for help" [this thread] started 5/20/2008, 4:32pm (GMT-6) with three
replies
"2007 Deluxe - Stock transactions (buy and sell same day)" started
5/20/2008, 4:24pm (GMT-6) with more replies than I care to count

I see four threads started by "John":
"Advanced/Deluxe Charting with Money Plus, Money Plus SP1 on Vista" started
4/22/2008 (GMT-6) with no replies (and no questions)
"Interactive Charts Don't Display with Money Plus SP1 on Vista" started
4/19/2008 2:52am with more replies--from somebody whou would know--than I
care to count
"Spending Tracker display for previous months?" started 4/3/2008 12:59am
(GMT-6) with no replies
"Money Plus SP1 Update" started 3/26/2008 3:18pm (GMT-6) also with more
replies than I care to count

To answer your question, yes, people have gotten free help from Microsoft.
But 99% of the posters here are not Microsoft--and those that are are
ususally incognito in this forum. We really don't care if the OP wants to
change to Quicken. It's no loss to us--and, for particularly obnoxious
posters, it's a gain.

If you have a question about use of Microsoft Money the personal finanace
application, please re-state it in a new thread. IF any of the regulars
think they can help, they are most likely to try.

John,
I have EXACTLY the same question and dismayed that it wasn't easily answered
(probably because you used the dreaded-word "Quicken"). Has anyone been able
to get free help from MS? How about answering John's question? - It appeared
quite clear to me

Your problem may be one none of the regulars know how to solve. You may not
have been clear or provided enough info. I have no clue as I can't recall
your prior posting and you give no hint. I go to this newsgroup and have for
years. I've posted 10k or so times and have had problems maybe 50 times.

But, hey, if you want to go to Quicken, by all means don't think we are
holding you back.

Microsoft does not monitor this newsgroup actively as a matter of policy,
though they do occasionally post--but generally not as "Microsoft". The
intent of this newsgroup is user-to-user.

Gee, I have no clue why others are not so eager to try to help you.

Default Charge for help

When trying to use Email to obtain help the first block on the contact page
says there is no charge for unlimited problem submissions. The second block
says there is a $35 charge.

I can find no way to obtain free help.

If you want to use 'chat' the first block says there is no charge. However
chat is never available, even during the times shown in the table later on
the page.

Customer service at Miscrosoft stinks. The next time I want to upgrade my
financial software it will be Quicken. Maybe there service is no better, but
it cannot be any worse.

Where am I going wrong trying to get help? I did post my problem on the
forum, but that will be pure luck if it is answered. Who goes to the forum
unless they are having a problem. Does Microsoft monitor the forum???????
Hope so.

Thanks
