Default RE: embedding categories

Also, as Cal points out, lots of things behave differently depending on
whether you have the option for dual drop-downs set. I believe you can get
there either way, but I think the Education:xxx will be necessary in the
single drop down mode. Again, I can't test from here so could be wrong.

Default RE: embedding categories

I suspect your first issue is the confusion between Categories and Category
Groups (some of which share, unhelpfully, the same names.) I would suggest
(without the ability to test it just now) the new category be called
Education : Textbooks and it be added to Category Group Education.

To manage these more directly, Account List | Categories and Payees |
Categories...

I suggest ticking
Tools-> Settings-> Categories-> UseTheDualCategoryDropdownControl to
make the setting up and accessing of these categories such as
Education:Equipment clearer.

Banking-> AccountTools-> Categories&Payees-> Categories will get
you to Categories. Even better, you can click Shortcuts at the
top, and configure in Categories (and other favorite places) for
single-click access.

Then Select a category that you want to be rid of and click Delete
or Move at the bottom. If you are using the category for existing
transactions, Money will ask what category you want those
transactions reassigned to.

Default embedding categories

Is there some way to "embed" categories (i.e. for expenses and income)
in Money Plus Deluxe? For example, under expenses, there is the pre-
added category "Education." I want to add 2 subcategories under
Education, namely "Equipment" and "Textbooks." While viewing my
transactions in the Advanced Register, I click a transaction, select
the Category drop-down box, then select "Add a new category" at the
top. I enter "Equipment" for the name and select "Education" when it
asks me "What category does this group fall under?" However, when I'm
done, "Equipment" does not appear embedded under Education. It has its
own line. That is:

Dining Out
Education
Entertainment
Equipment

I want it to appear embedded underneath Education, like this:

Dining Out
Education
: Equipment
: Textbooks
Entertainment

Is there some way to do this?

Also, how do you delete categories and/or subcategories.
