Go into the View settings in the Portfolio Manager, and "customize current
view" then look at the Portfolio columns. There's a "column description" for
each of the available columns.

There's also a KB article on how Money calculates Gain, etc:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/176334/en-us

As for other "investment terms" there's a glossary in Money's help: Help -
Money Glossary

Mark, where can one find the definition of the investment terms used in
Money? Specifically, I seeking information about what the columns are
calculated.

Thanks in advance...

Default RE: Investment Gain Calculation Wrong

Not quite the same but similar.
I am using Money deluxe 2008 and the $ gain will not calculate correctly in
my case where I transferred an account from Vanguard to Fidelity. The
dividends that were paid while at Vanguard are not added in the gain.
I called in for support and after interminable e-mai and phone
conversations, it was a polite "tough luck".

good luck

Maybe it was originally entered wrong. How about deleting and
re-entering the investment,

I recommend that you configure to not use the "%Gain" column.
There are so many useful columns available in the Portfolio, and
for me "%Gain" is not one.

The main difference between % Gain and Total Return All (TR all)
appears to differ if sales have been made. Both appear to take
dividends into account.

If showing sold securities, %gain can go negative ... buy at 100,
sell at 1, big negative.

test buy 100 at $10.00
Sell 99 at $10.10
%gain says 100% TR All says 1%

So, to reiterate, get rid of %gain and use the TR columns.

Default Investment Gain Calculation Wrong

Hello -

I've had a problem with 1 investment in my 401k for some time now. 3/4 of
the funds I'm in calculate the Gain/Loss accurately but 1 does not.

MS Money 2007 Deluxe v 16.0.120.1303

The fund is showing:
Coast Basis: 2334.42
Market Value: 2234.51
Gain: 1811.03
% gain: 77.58%

This should really be a LOSS - as much as I'd like Money's math to work.

Any clue on how to solve this?
