| I think we are running out of options. | Hi Everybody, first of all, Kudos to all of you for such a fast responses. Here are more details: I have my programs & OS on a RAID0 (striping) HD and data on Raid1 (mirror) HD. Both are SATA drives. I was able to copy the file into the striping drive and tried restoring that way but same results. I have a laptop as well. So I installed Money 2005 on that, updated the money 2005 and then tried to restore it, same results. There was only one ..mbf file which is why I am confused why it's doing this way. Also, i tried using the default money location and through browse but getting the same message. I read somewhere that this issue was resolved in 2008 which is why I installed 2008 but getting the same results. | But that normally only occured during the backup and not the restore process. Do you recall any type of problem during the backup to that harddrive? Have you tried copying the mbf file to the same drive where Money is installed? If you get a copy error that could be why Money has problems. If not try restoring that copy (be sure to "Browse" to a location on you harddrive where you want the file restore and NOT simply reply on the default location that was stored in the backup file, since that location may not exist on your computer) -Mark "Mark" <abcd[at]abcd.com> wrote in message news:uI9Ou7JrIHA.4884[at]TK2MSFTNGP06.phx.gbl... - quote - > This almost sounds like the 4G memory stick issue. > Is this "connected single harddrive" an external drive connected via USB, > which Money is thinking is actually a "removable" disk instead of an > actual harddrive? > -Mark > "Salman" <salman121[at]yahoo.com> wrote in message > news:252434CA-D1A2-4966-851E-289C1CF9FA3F[at]microsoft.com... > > I am using 'Version: 14.0.120.1105" and still not able to get it to work. > > > "Cal Learner-- MVP" wrote: > > > > In microsoft.public.money, Salman wrote: > > > > > > I have money 2005 backup file (.mbf) and my original file has gotten > > > > corrupted somehow and can't repair it (computer hung and had to be > > > > restarted). | This almost sounds like the 4G memory stick issue. Is this "connected single harddrive" an external drive connected via USB, which Money is thinking is actually a "removable" disk instead of an actual harddrive? -Mark "Salman" <salman121[at]yahoo.com> wrote in message news:252434CA-D1A2-4966-851E-289C1CF9FA3F[at]microsoft.com... - quote - > I am using 'Version: 14.0.120.1105" and still not able to get it to work. > "Cal Learner-- MVP" wrote: > > In microsoft.public.money, Salman wrote: > > > > I have money 2005 backup file (.mbf) and my original file has gotten > > > corrupted somehow and can't repair it (computer hung and had to be > > > restarted). Check the date and size of the backup. I hope there is another *.mbffile somewhere for you. Search your drives for *.mny and *.mbf files. Did you save a backup onto different media such as a USB flash drive? - quote - > "Cal Learner-- MVP" wrote: > > In microsoft.public.money, Salman wrote: > > > > I have money 2005 backup file (.mbf) and my original file has gotten > > > corrupted somehow and can't repair it (computer hung and had to be > > > restarted). From XP, either open the sample.mny file in your install folder, or let Money 2005 create a new Money file, clicking Decline in the process. It will do an update. Close Money. Then open Money and check that Help-> About... says you then have version 14.0.*.1105. Then you should be able to open or restore your existing files. |

| I have money 2005 backup file (.mbf) and my original file has gotten corrupted somehow and can't repair it (computer hung and had to be restarted). Whenever I try to restor the backup file, I get the following message, Window Title: Money Multiple Disk Backup Message: Please insert the next backup disk. (The disk containing file "".) I was backing up on a different connected single harddrive and there is only one file. The file is not in multiple pieces and on different drives. When I click OK, it doesn't do anything and cancel just stops the process. I even downloaded the 2008 version and I am getting the same problem. Any help will graetly be appreciated. Thank you, |
