| Hey, This seems to have done the trick. As someone mentioned in a different thread ("Money 2005 Premium still locking up") it might be a good idea to provide a patch or at least describe this in the knowledge base In any case: many thanks for the quick feedback. I suggest you open any file you can, such as Sample.mny. In XP, you can do that by going to your Money install folder and right-clicking Sample.mny, and choosing Open. Go to Tools-> Settings-> ProgramSettings and set the (GeneralDisplay StartMoneyWithThisPageOpen:Accoun tList.Close Money. Then open the problem file once or twice. Then Tools-> Settings-> HomePageDisplayOptions and Remove the Investment Performance module. If you still have a problem, remove everything. If the problem goes away, you can add things back until the crash does not happen. Add back in the other things you want on the home page. |

| Hey, Was this problem ever solved? I have exactly the same issue: everyting works fine, but when I enter a new investment transaction & restart money either hangs or auto-closes (without message) after asking my password. Playing around shows that: * The issue is not linked to a certain investment or account: creating a new investiment account and adding a transaction for a new investment produces the same result. * Restoring an old backup works fine up to a certain transaction (which makes me believe it has something to do with internal transaction ids or something).. * Repair doesn't help Some extra information: * Latest version (version nbr ending with 1105), * XP Home SP3 For now I stopped tracking investments in Money .. but I would love to find a solution. Regards, Ive "money user ksa" wrote: - quote - > The same original problem is back. > If I update my file with any transaction, and close the program. | The same original problem is back. If I update my file with any transaction, and close the program. Then when starting the program again , the program hangs (not responding), the only way out is through ending the program with the Task manger. Tried to repair the updated file , I got the message "successfuly managed to repair and view log", when viewing the log ,it says "No broken records in the original file", but still the program hangs when using the repaired file (using open). The original file before the update still works. Sorry to bother you again. | It is 1105 I used the sample file and got the update and tried to repair an older version of the file and managed to recover my data. I would like to thank you very much for your help and for encouraging me to continue my effort to recover the file. | Try opening the sample.mny file and check the version number in Help About. The final number should be 1105. If it isn't you are missing a vital update. | I was updating investment transactions , there was a problem with fractions of shares sold (they don't add to one ). Then closed the program, and restated it , the program starts then disappear. Then when restarted the program again, it says that it will convert the file to the current version of the program (although I did not reinstall the program - it is 2005 deluxe uk), and prompt with Next to proceed. Then I got the following message: "Money cannot locate 'C:\users\..... with the file name' or cannot open it, possibly because it is a read-only file, or you do not have permission to change it, or your disk drive is write-protected......" Although I have no password and the file is not read-only and it is on the hard disk of the computer.I did not do any thing to hardware or software of the computer. I tried the repair facility and it did not work as well. Thank you "Bob Peel, MVP" wrote: - quote - > What exactly happens? Any error messages?
