This happened in Money 2000 and 2001, I think, when the following conditions
existed: your bank sends transactions with a generic payee name such as
CHECK, and you've edited one of these transactions while viewing the
statement.

If that has happened, Money assumes that the last payee you changed CHECK to
is the payee you want for all subsequent downloads where the payee name is
CHECK.

What I'd recommend is, the next time you download, change your transactions
back to CHECK to eliminate the issue of all the transactions changing to the
wrong payee. Then, accept the transactions as CHECK and edit in the
register.

written to a friend rather than the actual payee. At one
point I did write a check to him for recreation expenses
and now all bill-pay items are labelled as such in Money
although not on the bank record and not apparently
