You needn't necessarily "start over". You could use the "balance account"
genie to set all cleared transactions to, say, statement balances and then
accept the difference and Money will enter an adjustment transaction. You
could also enter and mark as reconciled you own similar transaction. Or you
could adjust the account opening balance in account settings to compensate.
