Default Re: Help, please... MsMoney for Win95, V4.0a, Corrupted File on WinXP

OK... here's an interesting update, people...

The files are all on the C: drive.
I deleted, then re-installed Money 95.
I can create new files with 95; it just won't open old files.

So, I downloaded Money 2004 Trial, and it Can open the old files.
With 2004, I exported an old file to a QIC file. Then, with 95, I
created a new blank file, and imported the QIC file data. It worked.
Now, I have my old data, working on 95. Again.

All is well. Peace on earth.

Any ideas on Why this is so?... or shall we just go on to bigger and
better problems?

Thanks for your suggestions, and your time.

Mark S.

Default Help, please... MsMoney for Win95, V4.0a, Corrupted File on WinXP

I have a similar problem with a new WinXP Pc and Money
95, except that I decided to try Money 2004 (trial
version) and use my data file copied from my WinME
computer running 95. 2004 opens the file, without error
messages, but the file appears to be empty.

Well, Bob, thanks for your reply, but the program does start normally,
and it does open up the sample data files that come with the program.
It appears to work just fine, but it just won't open up my files.
Any other ideas, people?

Thanks.

Are they on the harddrive or a floppy? Can you copy them to the harddrive?
I've tried every version of Money on Windows XP from 2.0 on, and they all
run, so I suspect either a problem with the files or the media they are
located on. However, if you can't even create a new file, there may be an
issue with your installation. You may want to try downloading the trial
version of Money 2004 and see if that can convert your files.

I suspect that that vintage of Money is not supported on XP.

Default Help, please... MsMoney for Win95, V4.0a, Corrupted File on WinXP

Help, please,...

I've had MS Money for Win95, Version 4.0a, working on my Win98SE PC
for several years. Now, I got a new PC with WinXP, installed the same
old program, and it can't open any of my old data files. It says
they're corrupted. What's up? TIA.
Help, please.
