| The backup restore worked, but the updating the data with the bank has not (yet). Is there a way to reset this going forward to pull the account data? I have successful update the accounts manually from the bank (manually downloading the data between the last backup and today). Let me know your thoughts. Thanks. | Well, I think I've got something now. Before the *mbf would not restore (but that was with MEss). I have money plus prem installed now and things seem to be working. The backup is restored and I am sync with my accounts to update the missing data between the backup and today. If this does not work. I am sure I will post another response (other than a headline "man strangles laptop" over money plus)... "Dick Watson" wrote: - quote - > Are you sure you tried to open the right file? Uninstall Essentials and return it. Money Plus Deluxe (or Premium or> this file. Suggestions? Home and Business) will convert earlier files. - quote - > Why would Microsoft offer an upgrade that cannot
It's not. It's pointed out at various stages that it will not> convert old files to the current version? convert files from other versions. However it should be more prominent. http://www.microsoft.com/money/Produ...ve_tab=Compare points that out in the "* Important note – Microsoft Money Essentials will not be able to open previous Money (Money Deluxe, Money Premium, or Money Home & Business) or Quicken files" at the bottom. On the other hand the requirements page should probably state that too, I think. - quote - > "Cal Learner-- MVP" wrote: > > In microsoft.public.money, Kane wrote: > > > > I just purchased, downloaded and installed Money Plus. | Are you sure you tried to open the right file? (Or did you just open a remnant file from your sojourn into MEss?) You might want to search your system for every file with .MNY and .MBF and ..M16 file extensions. Do you have a backup copy somewhere? This transition/file upgrade (M07D -M+D) has been painless for the __vast__ majority of users. | You were right on the Essentials. I upgraded to Premium and tried to open the Money 2007 file. It said it converted it, but the account list is gone now. Does this take a while? Should I look somewhere else for the account list? Since my old data is not visible, I assume nothing was converted or imported into the new version. Can I do a manual import of the data? Looking for more suggestions here to get all my data in the same program!! Thanks. | See other reply for suggestion. Why would they offer it? Because they thought it was what some of their customers wanted. | I was afraid of that. Money Essential == MEss = Bad Stuff. It won't convert any "real" Money data file from the > Essentials versions. It's aimed at people who want to think they are managing their money but really just want a one-stop web-site-like-experience with Microsoft's ads instead of someone else's. You should get your Money back for Essentials and buy Deluxe or higher if you want to upgrade a real Money data file. Make sure the *.mny file is not in ProgramFiles. Then> not recognize my Money 2007 files. How do I get that data moved into my > Money Plus files?? Help! Thanks! File-> Open your *.my file with Money Plus open, or open Money by double-clicking your *.mny file from Windows Explorer. |
