Yer right... I had missed that in that I did not have such a LT-CGentry in my real file. When I added one into a test file, I see it lumps it at this point. Here is what I would try then. Go ahead and make the .TXF file. Then in TurboTax File-> NewTaxReturn. File-> SaveAs: test. Then File-> Import-> FromAccountingSoftware-> OtherAccountingSoftware(TXF) Continue. Select the appropriate .txf file (Browse if necessary)... ImportNow Then look at the schedule D worksheet or form. Print schedule D and D1. Switch back to your real return, and compare the forms with with your real return. - quote - > That's

But at that point Money considers the reinvestments "cap gains", That's was trying to EXCLUDE them from the math. Rephrase: My objective - have two windows open on my pc: Right now TTAX (window #1) shows "vaild Cap Gians from brokers". ( say $10,000.00) Window #2 ' Cap Gains in Money" shows (for example) $11,111.11 (due to 1111.11 in reinvested dividends) Window #2 : I want to have it show the same info that I see on my tax forms ( to know all is OK) I do not need to import etc - I downloaded all my info and just checking to make sure - same figures. Maybe Money can't do it - in which case I'll grab a calulator when I get back and just do it manually. Thanks again Cal. |

'Export as a TXF file', OR 'Start Turbo Tax and import your Money tax data into it.' Wow - what a surprise to me - that's what I'm using but I never tried the Tax Tools option before. I can only "select one of those two lines" there is no " > Continue < ( or> yourself or your tax preparer, do not click Continue at this point. am I being a dope - like looking for the ANY key ? ) Do you mean "File by hand ?' in the left margin ? - quote - > Instead click File-> Print to print the selected tax information.
I tried File - Print = nothing at all happens.I tried 'File by hand' and it offers to export to txf file. So, I'm exporting to TXF ??? I chose that to see what options and - only option is to pick the folder. Did I miss a step somewhere ? Or can I then open that file and see a report ? Worst case, I CAN do it manually - just grab a calculator to subtract them> for most of the selected items, and then the information for > Schedule D. > Let's hope that at least segregates the LT-CG from your mutual fund > that goes first to your schedule B from your sale which go directly > to D. from the total and then compare to Sched D. I'm not being lazy, and don't wanna be a nuisance: I thought it would be a simple answer that I was overlooking. Thanks Cal. |

You could Customize the taxes-CapitalGains report to exclude the> compare 1040 Schedule D and D1 in TTax to Money. When I open Money - > Reports - Capital Gains - I see all cap gains - sales, AS WELL AS > reinvested cap gains. That didn't match Schedule D ( since reinvestments > aren't SALES), so I then tried " Tax related transactions" and all I see > is Interest and Dividends. I give up : how to see a report that shows - > cap gains from Sales - what the IRS calls a "cap gain" (or loss) ? particular account or investment. Better yet, So how do I proceed ? In Money 2006, Taxes-> TaxTools-> ExportToTaxSoftware Set the ReviewTaxesFor drop-down to Completed2007TaxYear. Continue. Select the items that you want Money to send to the tax program, and de-select those things that you will instead pull off of the 1099s. This may be Schedule A, Schedule C, and both long- and short-term capital gains, depending on your needs. Then for your CG info de-select all but Short-TermGains and Long-TermGains In Money 2006, if you want to print a tax report for yourself or your tax preparer, do not click Continue at this point. Instead click File-> Print to print the selected tax information. This may be in two sections: the forms, line numbers and amounts for most of the selected items, and then the information for Schedule D. Let's hope that at least segregates the LT-CG from your mutual fund that goes first to your schedule B from your sale which go directly to D. |

| Doing my taxes and comparing Turbo Tax results with Money. I'm trying to compare 1040 Schedule D and D1 in TTax to Money. When I open Money - Reports - Capital Gains - I see all cap gains - sales, AS WELL AS reinvested cap gains. That didn't match Schedule D ( since reinvestments aren't SALES), so I then tried " Tax related transactions" and all I see is Interest and Dividends. I give up : how to see a report that shows - cap gains from Sales - what the IRS calls a "cap gain" (or loss) ? Thanks |
