| Thanks for the reply - I had canceled the message but your news server might have picked it up already. The reason why I canceled the message was because the money data file I was using at the time was not the correct one. It did not have the transactions for 2007 for the accounts that I was interested in. When I did check for a interest transaction as I said below, it was made in 2006 but I did not notice that till after I posted. So once again, this was user error. -- Himanshu Retired Coal Miner wrote: - quote - > Had you not said this, 'The interest income category is correctly set to > show in tax reports in the tax settings', tax category setup would be > the primary suspect. > You can test this in a simple way. | Had you not said this, 'The interest income category is correctly set to show in tax reports in the tax settings', tax category setup would be the primary suspect. You can test this in a simple way. Enter one new dummy/test transaction of some amount of unique amount of Interest Income, say $99.99. But don't use the category 'Interest Income'/'Taxable', Make up an entirely new Category for this test, such as 'Interest Income (Test)', and 'Taxable (Test)'. Then configure these categories to show up on a tax report (Categories & Payees Setup Tax Categories > Include on Tax Reports > Schedule B > Interest Income, this is from M08, but I think M04 is similar). Run a Tax Report and see if the single transaction appears. If not, poke around and see if you can figure out why it does not. If you hit a dead end, report back here. If it does work, determine what is different with the existing categories, and also remember to delete the test transaction and the newly created categories. | M04 (v12.0 Update 1) which I've been using for a number of years. This year, when I look go Taxes > Tax Reports and look at Tax-Related Transactions for Previous Year, my wages show, "investment income:dividends" from one account shows, but "investment income: interest" from my bank accounts does not! Checked to make sure that the transactions in the accounts that contain the income are properly classified, and the report is set to include those accounts as well. The interest income category is correctly set to show in tax reports in the tax settings. Ran Repair (quick, & standard which said, "No broken records in the original file") and re-ran the tax reports, but still no interest income. Also exported to .txf, which also shows zero amount in the interest category. What is going on? Can't remember having this problem in prior years! In fact I have a .txf file from a previous year and it clearly shows the interest income for these accounts. Any help appreciated. -- Himanshu |
