For the install, yes. Otherwise just do it once with your file or
the sample file to let any updates happen.

Cal,

If I have the backup and MNY files available in a separate folder under my
documents do I need to worry about the pointers you made regarding running as
an administrator?

Thanks,
Peter

Money Plus Deluxe should work well for you.
http://www.microsoft.com/money/freetrial_deluxe.mspx

Be sure that your Money and backup files are moved to a spot that
you will have full privileges to, such as within the user's
Documents folder. If they are in ProgramFiles, Vista will create
an impermanent copy of the file for the user to use, unless the
user explicitly right-clicks at launch and choose
RunAsAdministrator that time.

Check that the SSL2 protocol is enabled. That checkbox is in IE
Tools-> InternetOptions-> Advanced.

Install Money from the Money Plus by browsing to the setup file.
Right-click that file, and choose RunAsAdministrator.

After install, right-click the Money icon and choose
RunAsAdministrator to let potential updates happen. Reboot the
computer. You should not have to run as Administrator normally.

Default Backup file from either 2003 or 2005 to Money Plus Deluxe

My laptop died but I have my backup files of Microsoft Money (2003 or 2005?)

Money was free with the Dell laptop so I don't have original disk.

If I buy Money Plus Deluxe will it recognize my MNY file or my MBF file? I
do not have the old Money program in order to be able to prepare the file as
a QIF export file as the help support site suggests.

I can not get Microsoft support until after I buy Money Plus Deluxe, but I
want to make sure it will work before I purchase.

Thanks for any insight.
