It just seems surprising that planning - which is advertised as part of link similar to just going to moneycentral website without purchasing the program. It is surprising because in Quicken (which I use) the various planners it contains are not web based but are part of the program itself and use the data from your own accounts. Just dissapointed. |

I have Money installed in its default location on my C: drive (Programs, etc.). The data file is on another data partition. My file opens normally, and when my firewall asks me if Money can access the web, I say no. After Money is fully open, when I click on the "Planning" tab I get "This page cannot be displayed, etc." At the top of that window (within MS Money) I see that it is trying to contact: http://g.msn.com/1MCUSEN2008REDIRECTORS/gmny-0411 If I tell my firewall (Zone Alarm) to permit Money to access the internet (and allow Active-X, etc.), now Planning does open correctly with a path that now is http://moneycentral.msn.com/personal-finance/ Looks to me that planning on my "Money Plus" 2008 only works via the internet unless I have a setting wrong. Any advice? Jeff |

You can explore that by either disconnecting from the internet for an interval, or choosing File-> WorkOffline from IE. See if the feature you are concerned about still works. Expect getting quotes or transactions to not work, of course, but you might be surprised that Help becomes more sparse. |

| I am new to Money Plus 2008 using it in Windows XP. When I use my firewall to prevent Money accessing the web, it seems that the retirement planner and other tools are not available for use within Money. Is this a matter of changing a setting or are the various planners only on the web rather than in the program on my PC. I am uncomfortable using the web for my personal data. Jeff |
