I use the H & B 2008 and it updated and works fine with Vista

I'm running Vista Ultimate and my version of money is a retail
one(home and business) - the update installed fine and money is
running well - is the problem just with the retail Deluxe version?

But I was working with the downloaded original install. If you
installed from the retail Money Plus Deluxe disk, a workaround would
be needed for a while. If you want that workaround, look around or
ask somebody about how to do the workaround.

I have done that successfully with no problem as have lots of
others. I just started Money by right-clicking and
RunAsAdministrator. No moaning involved.

Preach it brother! It is RIDICULOUS that this problem has been going
on for as long as it has and still doesn't have an elegant solution.

Anyone with success w/installing the Money Plus update on Vista please
advise.

Default Update to Microsoft Money Plus (2008) and Vista / XP (SP2) (NOSOLUTION)

All,

Although there have been numerous solutions posted as fixes related to
the inability to complete the update in Microsoft Money, none of these
apply to users running Microsoft Money Plus (2008) and Vista / XP
(SP2).

The Microsoft Money Team will need to address this. They also need to
address training given to the tier of people working phone support as
they don't even understand the concepts needed to begin diagnosing the
problem. Questions such as "Can you check to make sure your cable
modem is on?" do not give me confidence to stay on the line knowing
they are even near the level of understanding it will take to get this
issue resolved.

This issue has happened in the past with earlier versions of Money.
Now, with the increasing relationship between Money, Internet Explorer
(which I don't even use...), and the operating system (Vista or XP),
problems like these are becoming more difficult to solve.

Solutions such as changing the files / folders to read/write, running
the update as admin, checking / changing security protocols in IE,
messing with UAC (user access control) or completely uninstalling /
reinstalling the software do not work as I have verified this on a
clean machine running Vista. I am guessing this will be the case with
XP as well...

I realize Microsoft Money is Bill Gates' "bastard child" project that
doesn't earn the corporation even 1% of their overall revenue, but
hopefully, some Microsoft warriors will come forward and correct the
issue -- not because they should, but because they are up to the
challenge...
