Many people have Money set to automatically backup upon exit and thereby overwrite their existing backup file. And that is FILE singular. :-( In your case you have not yet closed the file, so even if set up to overwrite your backup, you have not yet done so. Good. For future use, in Tools-> Options-> Backup I suggest checking x Automatically backup to hard disk on exit x Prompt me before backing up each time* x Make my file small ... Then periodically, perhaps once per month or more, copy your latest backup (named differently from your earlier backups) to a CDR. With XP, this can be a copy and paste operation. Otherwise use the burning software that came with your CDR drive. * This has two advantages. You can change the file name occasionally. I like to pick a name something like money030828. Then it is easy to change the name to have multiple backups. The ..mbf extension is automatic. The other advantage is that you can choose "Don't Back Up, or you change your mind about exiting by simply clicking the X in the upper right of the pop-up box. |

| Anyone ever get this one??? I received the following message and subsequently, nothing works in Money. I cannot backup, I cannot close out, I just keep getting the same error message no matter what I click on. I am unsure if I should close the program down (I did about 2 hours of bill reconciling and don't want to lose all my work!): This is the message: "Money could not write to your Money file. The operation cannot be performed or another application finished this task before you. Please try again" Am grateful for any suggestions. |
