| I contacted Microsoft support and got this response. Have not tried it out yet: Uninstall your current version of Microsoft Money on your computer by going to Add/Remove Programs in the Control Panel. If you have the Trial Version of Microsoft Money installed at this time, proceed to #5. Open up Internet Explorer and go to http://www.microsoft.com/money/freetrial_deluxe.mspx and click "Download the Free Trial". Once the program is installed, open the Microsoft Money program and once you are prompted to install the update, do so. Once the update is complete, open Microsoft Money and go to Help> About Microsoft Money, check the version number. The last four numbers should now be 1415. Close Microsoft Money and go to "C:/Program Files/Microsoft Money Plus". Right-click on the Microsoft Money Plus folder and select 'copy', then go to your desktop and right-click on there and select 'paste'. Go to Add/Remove Programs in the Control Panel and uninstall the trial version of Microsoft Money. Reboot your system. Then install your CD version of the product. Once the program is installed, go to "C:/Program Files" and delete the "Microsoft Money Plus" folder. Click and drag the Microsoft Money Plus folder from your desktop into the Program Files folder or copy and paste. Once the folder is copied to the Program Files folder, open Microsoft Money and check the version number again. After you open Microsoft Money and are not being prompted for the update, delete the 'Microsoft Money Plus' folder from your desktop "Frustrated" wrote: - quote - > I created a new admin account > Cleared the read only box from Money Plus (including subfolders) > Rebooted > Logged into the new admin account > Money plus still gives need to update message > When i click on update, it starts to download and fails. > Tried by double clicking on the Sample.mny file - but same thing happens. > I tired closing Money Plus myself and waited a minute before trying the > update, gives the same message. > Any other suggestions? > "Mark" wrote: > > See if the following works: > > > 1. | I created a new admin account Cleared the read only box from Money Plus (including subfolders) Rebooted Logged into the new admin account Money plus still gives need to update message When i click on update, it starts to download and fails. Tried by double clicking on the Sample.mny file - but same thing happens. I tired closing Money Plus myself and waited a minute before trying the update, gives the same message. Any other suggestions? "Mark" wrote: - quote - > See if the following works: > 1. Sign into your new user profile and make sure it has administrator rights > 2. Re-start the computer and open the sample file 4. Run the update and close money reboot the computer 5. Open one of your money back up files in the new user profile and made sure that it was not asking for the update 6. You are saying that when you boot your XP computer into safe mode> Tried safe mode with networking - was unable to connect to the Internet .... > (actually the network connections showed that I was connected but IE and > Money kept saying I was not connected) with networking, you can launch IE. However IE does not successfully access web pages. I would not expect that. Do you have something unusual about your networking? Safe mode causes slow but fairly generic drivers to be used and it causes a lot of things to not start automatically that would normally do so. Yet I assume that when you are booted normally that IE connects fine. I don't know what to suggest. - quote - > "Frustrated" wrote: > > Mark, Cal > > Thanks for your suggestions. | I have XP SP2 and today got a message when I logged into Money Plus (including online services) to update the software. Clicked OK --> Money closed, downloaded started and just before it was 100% it gave an error that the update failed and to try again later. Have read a number of posts about this and tried various solutions 1. Rebooted several times 2. Turned off windows firewall 3. Disabled virus protection 4. Running as admin 5. No compatibilities checked off under properties. Nothing works. The download stops and the get the message that update fails and to try again later. I also tried to ignore the message and kept using MOney and it gives an error when trying to update transactions for my Credit Card. Used to work fine till today. Any ideas? |
