| Thanks, Steve. I haven't forgotten your response nor your suggestions. I'm fighting with my backup solution--Windows Home Server--the backup jobs for which have been failing for a number of days. When it rains it pours, doesn't it? In addition, my Windows Mobile 6 device failed last week and I had to re-initialize *that*. Once I can perform a successful backup, I'll proceed with the Vista repair steps. |

It sounds to me like you've narrowed the problem down to somethingshared with Vista. Installing Money on your virtual machine worked. I recommend you: * do a backup * do a Windows repair * reinstall Money If that doesn't work I would: * reinstall Windows I've spent many years supporting PCs. You can fool around forever trying to find the exact thing that's fouled up. If there are two things, you'll never figure it out. If I can't fix it in an hour or two, I bite the bullet and reinstall Windows. My clients don't want to pay me for untold hours of futzing about when I can just start over and be done in an hour or so. Did I mention the backup? Once you get everything reinstalled, but before you start using the machine, make an image backup so next time (and there *will* be a next time) fixing your PC is just an image restore. -- Steve B. If so, how can they be fixed? Uninstalling Money probably completely cleans up the registry, but do we know for sure that simply uninstalling and re-installing Money would resolve any problems with the Money shared libraries? Is there a list of files making up these Money shared libraries? If so, I could do a comparison of the files between my virtual environment and my non-virtual environment and look for any differences. |

The drop-down menu feature is a > basic function of Windows. explain why. I mentioned earlier that when I go to my checking account, select an epay transaction, press the Options button, and then select "Edit Address: <Payee> " or press the "Pay to:" hyperlink, nothing happens. I also mentioned that I *can* display the address and account information for transactions in accounts other than in my checking account. I brought up a transaction in my checking account (i.e., the problem account) and then selected a *non*-epay transaction--a paper check that I wrote a few weeks ago. When I press Options > Edit Address for that transaction, the Edit Address dialog box displays without a problem! I'm not aware of any other 'drop-down menu features' that are misbehaving--in Money or anywhere else. This *seems* to be a problem that is specific to my checking account--but is manifest only in my primary (i.e., non-virtual) Vista environment. I can't help but wonder whether I'm missing something else; but what? |

I downloaded the Vista Eval VHD from Microsoft's download site and then set> suspicious that one of the Windows shared libraries is SNAFUed. You can > try going back to previous restore points or reinstalling Windows as > well as what you plan. it up in Virtual PC. Upon booting into that virtual environment, Windows Update downloaded and installed 42 Vista updates. Upon rebooting that virtual environment, another Vista update was downloaded and installed. So far, Vista SP1 has *not* been downloaded and installed. Next in that Vista virtual environment, I installed Money 2007. Upon launching Money, an update automatically downloaded and installed. Next, I copied my MNY file into that virtual environment. Then, I ran Money. Guess what? I can view the address and account info for my epay transactions! That proves that my MNY file is OK and that the problem is in my primary Vista environment. I installed Vista SP1 on my primary Vista environment a few weeks ago--perhaps that is the cause of this problem? I'm going to manually install Vista SP1 in my virtual environment to see how that affects things. Have there been any reports of Vista SP1 causing problems with Money 2007? I'd *hate* to think that my only options are to re-install my primary Vista environment or to only be able to use Money in a virtual environment!!! |

| Can anyone offer any suggestions on how to proceed? I can't submit any electronic payments to new payees. ![]() |
| | |||

| I should mention that I can still successfully submit epay transactions for *existing* payees--I just can't confirm the mailing address and account information. I experience the same problem with my automatic epay transactions. Also, I can display the address and account information for transactions in other accounts--just not from my checking account. Of course, none of those transactions are epays. I neglected to mention that I rebooted my PC, without improvement. |

| Ya gotta love how things inexplicably stop working in Money, Money 2007 in my case. Suddenly, I can no longer display the payment address for any of the epay transactions in my checking account register. When I select a transaction and either: 1. Press the Options button and then select "Edit Address: <Payee> " 2. Press the "Pay to:" hyperlink nothing happens. This is having a nasty side-effect: If I enter a new epay check (i.e., a withdrawal) to a new payee, I can't submit the transaction. I'm no longer prompted to enter the address and account number...and nothing happens when I press the Enter key--presumably because Money doesn't know where to instruct the payment to be mailed to. I've performed a Quick File Repair and a Standard File Repair, without improvement. Please help me understand what would cause this to happen...and how can I fix it? |
