You 2001 and 2007 can both installed on the same computer.> convenient to put it on my main computer where I use Money 2001. I'd put > it in a different directory, of course. Does anyone have experience with > this? Is it going to give me problems? 1. Install into different folders. That is the default. 2. Only one can be open at once. 3. The last-installed will have the file associations. That determines which gets it if you launch a QIF or OFX file. Either could do File-> Import of a file on your hard drive. 4. Pay close attention during install of Money 2007 to de-select having Money uninstall the earlier version. Also, don't let Money 2007 convert the Money 2001 file. I would rename it before install, so Money 2007 will not be tempted. You could also copy your 2001 file to Boon07.mny. You could open then both. Each version will open the most recently-used file by default, and will have a list at the bottom of the File menu of recently-opened files. |

| Folks, Would it be a problem to have both Money 2001 and 2007 installed on the same computer? I use Money 2001 for my personal finances. I just got the job of finance secretary at my church where the treasurer uses Money 2007. I bought Money 2007 so he and I could pass files back and forth. However, I don't want to move my own finances to Money 2007 because Money 2001 gives me a good view of my stock portfolio. The newer versions have more and more clutter on the screen to where I see more clutter than portfolio. I could install Money 2007 on a different computer, but it would be more convenient to put it on my main computer where I use Money 2001. I'd put it in a different directory, of course. Does anyone have experience with this? Is it going to give me problems? Thanks for your thoughts on this question. - Dave |
