| Mark, absolutely brilliant! You did, in less than 30 seconds, what MS Money "tech support" couldn't do in three hours. This is the solution, at least it worked for me. I'm going to call tech support back and let them know...for what it's worth. Thanks so much! | Try temporarily elevating this Standard account to an Administrator acccount. Start Money and Activate Close and restart Money to ensure that it doesn't ask you to activate it again. Demote this user to a Standard user again Try Money. -Mark "mansart" <mansart[at]discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:0763830A-4435-4725-AE75-280319580CD3[at]microsoft.com... - quote - > I am having the same problem. | Cal, Right clicking and running as Administrator will bring up Money without the pop-up requesting I activate/register it. This seems so lame! As others have written, it worked fine for the trial (read that demo) copy. Which reminds me of an old joke about trial/demo software... punch line is what I'm experiencing. Guess it was only a "trial/demo" no sense believing it would work the same for real product. -- Thanks, Jack "Cal Learner-- MVP" wrote: - quote - > In microsoft.public.money, jack70093 wrote: > > I have installed MS Money Plus Deluxe on Vista OS. | I am having the same problem. If I open Money Plus under the administrator account (or with Run as Administrator) it works fine, but if I open it in a standard account it says the program has not been activated. It worked find in the standard account during the entire trial period before I purchased and tried to activate it. I just spent three hours (literally) talking to tech support. After two and a half hours of trying to get it to work the guy finally told me "oh, it's not supposed to be run in a standard account, it's only designed to run in an administrator account." Because that made no sense on so many levels (not the least of which was the fact that he had just spent two and a half hours trying to get it to work in a standard account without every mentioning that it wasn't meant to be used that way) I asked to speak to a supervisor. The "supervisor" just said the same thing as the tech, but neither sounded like they knew what they were talking about so I came here to check it out. From what I've read, and someone please correct me if I'm wrong, most people are able to use Money Plus in a standard account on Windows Vista, while some of us are not. Has anyone who had this problem figured out how to resolve it so that they don't have to use an administrator password to run the program? | I have installed MS Money Plus Deluxe on Vista OS. Have registered when logged in as an admin, but it keeps asking me to register when ever I start it as a user. The registration always fails. Now error message indicates there are no available licenses. How can I run Money as a non-admin? -- Thanks, Jack |
