FYI, I tried another solution -- downloaded an actual statement from another
bank, applied to the account I was having trouble with, and then deleted
that. (Instead of using the ClearBalance.QIF file.)

That actually worked and I was able to remove the bank balance on the
offending account. Thanks for the help anyway.....

The "Bank Balance" is a downloaded figure.

When you delete a statement from the Account List, Money clears the
downloaded balance amounts from the associated account. Here is a
way to do that:

1.Open a new Notepad file, and paste the following six lines

Instead go to the Account List and right-click where it says
"Transactions to read:1" for the account that you imported into.
Choose DeleteStatement.


You can re-use the ClearBalance.QIF file on all the accounts you
wish to clear.

OK, the compensation transaction brings the "adjusted balance" to zero, but
the nonzero "Bank Balance" is totally unaffected by changes in opening
balance or compensating transactions. These two balances appear side-by-side
on "Account List" under "Banking"

I last performed an online download for one of my credit card accounts in FEB
08. In MAR 08, I paid the entire balance and closed the account. The bank cut
off my online access when the account was closed, so I am unable to perform
another online download which would reflect payment in full and zero the
balance. As far as I can tell, I am stuck with an incorrect nonzero Bank
Balance for this card forever. Short of deleting the account, is there a way
to manually zero a balance created by online update?
