| I already asked for a refund after reading somewhere else that it's not compatible with older versions, and to avoid it all together. Vista does so many things on it's own, I have no idea if anything was updated. I also have Norton and it's always scanning and updating things. I checked the Norton history file for the date this started happening and Norton changed a bunch of firewall rules that day, including MS Money. I put them back from Auto to Allow and will see if that helps. What will a system restore do exactly? After experiencing a system crash doing a routine "non-destructive" system restore on my HP, I am very leery of anything with "System Restore" in the instructions ![]() Thanks, Trish ![]() "Lynn Henderson" <lynnjunk[at]comcast.REMOVE.net> wrote in message news:Om4nOvYfIHA.2000[at]TK2MSFTNGP03.phx.gbl... - quote - > Logoff wrote: > > Okay, after a major system crash and a basically unrecoverable computer, > > I purchased a new laptop with Vista. I've been running M2002 under Vista without any problems since last stopped working? You might try a System Restore in Vista. Regarding Essentials, return it and get your Money back. Microsoft should have a 30-day return policy. If you do decide to upgrade, choose the Deluxe version. There is no real equivalent to Standard anymore. |

| Okay, after a major system crash and a basically unrecoverable computer, I purchased a new laptop with Vista. I was very happy with my XP, but didn't want to go through the pain of downgrading to XP from Vista. I upgraded all the software I could (not that I was happy about that), however when it came to MS 2002 (OEM on my dead HP), I was unable to find what I should be using (I am located in Canada). I read somewhere that 2002 would run under Vista so I installed it from the CD that came with my HP, restored my backup and it has worked fine for the last two months -- until last week. Now I am getting an error message each time I start MS Money that "Money is not properly installed. Please try setup again." I then restore from my latest backup and it works fine, but I have to do this each time I reboot my computer. If I stop MS Money and restart the program without rebooting, it's fine. This is getting tiresome, restoring and renaming files. I noticed when this started, the file size tripled, not sure if that is a clue. I also uninstalled and reinstalled MS Money 2002, but it didn't make a difference, I am still getting the error. I went online to the Microsoft site and tried running the repair from the command line. It made no difference. I then decided to upgrade MS Money to avoid further issues, but I didn't know WHAT the equivalent is for MS Money 2002 Standard. I purchased and downloaded MS Money Essentials, but it doesn't have the category requirements I have. I also can't believe I have to export each account individually from MS Money 2002 and re-import to MS Money Essentials. What a colossal pain-in-the-butt. Anyway, it's not suitable and now I don't know what to do. Do I keep putting up with the error whenever I have restarted my computer and then restore from my backup each time OR try and find the right MS Money application, buy, install and then go through the painful process of exporting and importing. Any suggestions out there? |
