Default Re: Auto entry of bill drawn from my account - how to?

You need to change from "Essential" Bills to "Advanced" Bills. When you go
to the Bills page in Money it will say in the upper right corner, next to
the icon of the three little gears, if you are using advanced to essential.
To change to Advanced go to Tools> Settings> Bill Settings. The second section
from the top is where you change from Essential to Advanced. Once changed,
"debit" will be available epay, apay, write check, and other.

If that's not clear, then go to this microsoft help website
http://www.microsoft.com/money/suppo..._ch04_p004.htm

From which vendors? Have you looked into mycheckfree.com? I have a
couple of vendor cards managed by GE Money Bank (GEMB). One is my
Sam's Discover card, the other is a Lowe's card I used when taking
advantage of 12-months-no-payment offer. GEMB does not offer a
recurring payment option. I discovered (no pun intended) only this
weekend that mycheckfree.com lists them as a vendor, and you *can* set
up an automatic draft from there.

Other vendors may accept payment through mycheckfree.com. It's free to
you. The vendor pays any fees.

I'm unclear if you're using the term 'debit' the same way I'm using
it, and how it's used in Money. In the Money register, it's simply a
way to describe a transaction. It has no more effect than to enter
"XYZ" as a transaction 'number'. You can type whatever you want there
and it has the same effect. I use debit to refer to automatic drafts
set up on different vendors' web sites.

You do not say which version of Money that you are using but I have not had
a problem in any version of money. In Money Plus you can choose from Apay,
Epay, Write Check, Direct Debit, Other, and Print this transaction. In
earlier versions I did use Write Check or Other. In any case you can also
can check the box to "Automatically enter this transaction n days prior to
when it is due". Even if you do not enter it I have found that when you go
to accept the transaction that it will often match it against the
transaction in the Bills section.

I am not certain what you mean by forcing me to approve it each month. Are
you talking about matching the transaction or just trying to get it into
your register from the bill pay?

I find that I have it set up to automatically show up in the register 1 day
before I expect the company to debit my account. When they do debit my
account, Money matches the transaction and asks for me to accept the match.
I used to following balancing of my credit cards copy the information over
to the bills and do the same thing based upon expected debit date. I have
since found it simpler to following balancing the credit card to accept the
"Pay now" button. Enter the checking account and the date in the future
when the transaction will come out. This places it in the register 3 weeks
early but with the solid line marking today it is easy to see which
transactions are in the future.

Unfortunately I don't have a debit option. It's either write a check,
apay or epay. I have write a check now, but then this forces me to go
into the transaction and approve it each month. I want it to show up
without me having to approve it. As you said, under Quicken I used
debit and it worked. I haven't been able to figure why I can't use
debit in Money.

Add it to scheduled bills as a debit. You can choose fixed, estimated,
or estimated based on previous X payments.

Default Auto entry of bill drawn from my account - how to?

I know Apay and Epay. But I have several bills drawn by the payees
from my account (traditionally how it's done in Europe instead of
push.) I have read Help, I have Googled the daylights out of the web,
but I can't figure out how to do it in Money. It was very
straightforward in Quicken.

Any tips?
