I hope not. I enter my transactions manually or move from bills and then
match with manually initiated downloads.

The day may come that Microsoft eliminates the ability to enter
transactions manually. They will have done customer usability surveys
and determined that it's what most customers want.

In that circumstance E is simply an alternative to C, with additional
meaning. (ie, cleared electronically).

Default Re: Why mark transactions

E means electronic and means it's accepted as agreeing between your file and
the banks records. Transactions are generally marked (C for Cleared, or R
for R for Reconciled) based on whether your records in Money are known to
match your banks records. This marking is used by the Money tools for
balancing an account against a statement to make sure that your Money
records do not diverge from the bank's records. It is very helpful in the
context of accounts where you are entering transactions manually and not
just taking whatever the bank downloads electronically as the gospel truth.

If you are using the Money features to balance accounts by hand, you HAVE to
use R to indicate those amounts that precede the current statement you are
trying to balance to and C to indicate those transactions that are on the
current statement and match what's in your Money records. I don't really
know how the E transactions are treated in this case since I'm the last
Money user alive who doesn't do the downloaded transaction thing.

Default Why mark transactions

I'm new to financial s/w. I have imported my transactions from my bank
and am trying to figure out why they come into my account marked E.
What do these markings do and how should I be using them. Also, older
posts seem to indicate that you can't batch mark all of them. Is that
still true with these new versions of money (I have Money Plus
Deluxe). Thanks.
