Can't speak to M01 on some platform pre-Vista vs. on Vista. But I wouldn't be
surprised if it has issues as was designed to work originally on M98.

As to how to move the data, copy over the .MNY data file using any of the
usual means (CD, network, LapLink, etc). Then put it in your Documents
folder. (This was always a best practice. Vista is now Really Serious abut
it.) Then double-click on it. The new version of Money should take over from
there and walk you through the file upgrade process.

I do not have Vista, someone else will have to help.

Thanks for letting me know version 2001 has problems with Vista.

Make sure you have copies of your 2001 .mny file.

When I installed free trial version on Windows xp it automatically loaded
the old data, Pay close attention during the installation process.

I'm upgrading because I bought a new Vista computer. I tried to install Money
2001 but it doesn't seem to be working correctly, i.e. some functionality
doesn't seem to be there. Thus, how does one load up all the old data,
including account info, from old computer to new computer after installing an
upgraded Money? Tks for your help.

And to add......

If you are not having any problems now, why upgrade?

Read some post in this newsgroup to see problems one can expect with the new
upgrade.

Just to add to this. The file format changes every year, but the new
versions can convert the older data files. Once converted, however, there
is no going back. Also note the new EULA and the timing out of downloading
of transaction data after two years of use.

It should. Some people have had problems for a range of reasons not the
least of which is pre-existing inconsistencies ("corruption") in the file.
Try it with the free trial download version and find out. Come back if there
are issues and perhaps somebody here can help.

Default Upgrading to New Version

This may shock some of you but I'm still using Money 2001 that came with an
old Dell. If I upgrade to a 2008 version (plus, deluxe etc.) can I still move
my existing data over? Have file formats changed since then?
