| Another possibility is that it was created by M04 but that copy of M04 was updated, making it a 'newer version'. BobJ's advice applies hypothetically. Opening the sample.mny and updating that file online could update the copy of M04 as happened on the previous install. Microsoft no longer supports online updates for some older versions. M04 may be one of those. If that applies, the only option is upgrading the file to a later version. In that case, any newer version would work but the user might as well upgrade to the latest unless something less current is available for free. -- Chris Cowles Gainesville, FL "Bob Peel, MVP" <bob_peel[at]kiandra.freeserve.co.uk.INVALID> wrote in message news:%23vFt7xtbIHA.5348[at]TK2MSFTNGP03.phx.gbl... - quote - > If you are convinced that there was no password on the file, then > this message can mean that the file was actually created by a newer > version of Money. e.g. M2005 and not M2004. |

| If you are convinced that there was no password on the file, then this message can mean that the file was actually created by a newer version of Money. e.g. M2005 and not M2004. -- Regards Bob Peel, Microsoft MVP - Money For UK tips & fixes see http://support.microsoft.com/default...d=fh;EN-GB;mny. | Double click on your sample.mny file (in Windows Explorer). This should open Money from which you can create a new file. -- Peace, BobJ "bnelson1967" <bnelson1967[at]discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:A39739D2-86ED-4C40-A134-EA70465BEC19[at]microsoft.com... - quote - > But I can't even open money without the password to get to any of the > options. > "Cal Learner-- MVP" wrote: > > In microsoft.public.money, bnelson1967 wrote: > > > > I forgot my password in Money 2004. | Thanks Bob. That is what I thought but do you know why the program asked for the password after I had removed it and all the files and reinstalled from the original cd? | I forgot my password in Money 2004. I removed the program and deleted all the files and the folder and the installed 2004 from the CD. When it was complete I started the program and it immediatley asked for the password again. I thought that by starting over I would have at least been able to open up Money. Anyone know a solution? Thanks. |
