You need the original Money 2005 installation CD. If you don't have> Perhaps I did not back up properly to my CD. that then this is not going to work. - quote - > How do I do that properly, and
I would use the regular .mny file copied from your old computer> will I have one or two backup files. No; it's an unfortunate similarity in name. You can hold down the> go there in Vista? <windows> key and poke the E key as an easy way to launch Windows Explorer. - quote - > When I right click on the sample file I do not see a RunAsAdministrator
It should bring up a menu with that choice. If you don't see that, I> prompt. don't know the cause. Maybe you have to be an Administrator to see that choice. - quote - > Thanks for your patience! > "Cal Learner-- MVP" wrote: > > In microsoft.public.money, yodelforafish wrote: > > > > I'm running Money 2005 on my old XP computer. | I had the sample account up, but it is gone, and my backup did not load in. Perhaps I did not back up properly to my CD. How do I do that properly, and will I have one or two backup files. Why do I find two files in my documents (Microsoft Money and Microsoft Money Backup file), and which one do I use? Is Windows Explorer the same as Windows Internet Explorer, if not, how do I go there in Vista? When I right click on the sample file I do not see a RunAsAdministrator prompt. That checkbox may be in IE Tools-> InternetOptions-> Advanced. Install Money 2005 by right-clicking Setup.exe from your CD and choosing RunAsAdministrator. Find the sample.mny file in your install folder. That may be "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Money 2005". Copy sample.mny file to your Documents folder in Vista. In Windows Explorer, right-click that file and choose RunAsAdministrator. It will do an update. Close Money. Reboot the computer. Then open Money and check that Help-> About... says you then have version 14.0.*.1105. Make sure your .mny and .mbf files are in your Documents folder. Then you should be able to File-> Open or Restore your existing files. |
