| Apparently not. In my test case, I observe that this report elects to show the absolute value of the totals for both the income and expense categories. But not for Transfers to a Loan Account. And not for the grand total at the bottom which is net cash flow, apparently. Go figure. As with all things Money, it pays to validate/understand what it tells you. | Thanks Cal. I actually stumbled across this just after posting my question. The one thing that's wrong with report is that it inverts the number. For example, in Category 1, let's say that I deposited $200 and spent $100. Although the balance is really $100, the report shows it as a negative $100. I believe that this is due to it thinking that it's an expense category rather than income. Am I missing something? Thanks again. |

Click Customize on the left and explore the choices. For your example, I would start with SpendingByCategory. On the Chart tab, choose Report. A modified report can be saved as a Favorite. Click Reset to get a report back to defaults. You can also change column sizes by dragging the borders of the headings. - quote - > I expect it's some custom report, but I haven't been able to figure it out > yet. | I like how MSMoney gives me the Account Balances report that shows me the grand total for every account that I want included and then summarizes it all. What I'm looking for is a way to do this with the categories. I can pull up all of the transactions for each category, which gives me the grand total for the category, but it has to show all of the transactions. I'm just looking to represent it as: Category Name Total Cat1 $99,999.99 Cat2 $99,999.99 Cat3 $99,999.99 Grand Total $99,999.99 I expect it's some custom report, but I haven't been able to figure it out yet. Can someone please point me in the right direction? Thanks In Advance |
