Default Re: Money 2005 data files

The entire file doesn't "load"--Money a disk-resident database like Access.
It may want to wander through more or less of it.

If the program is slow--and I've been there--one possible fix involves
upgrading to M07 or above and doing a very painful thing we call, around
here, "Nuke The Bills". This cleans out some crap that, apparently, Money
otherwise is happy to leave around in its data file and can--for some users
with some files--make for some pretty spectacular gains in performance and,
in my case, stability. This is a significant effort if you have many
scheduled bills and the only way to start is an upgrade. If you are
interested in doing it or testing it, post back. You could test it with the
trial version and a copy of your data file to see if/how it might benefit
you.

I strongly recommend against archiving which sounds like what you think you
want. I'm assuming you've been keeping data for years to do something with
it besides throw it away. Archiving is pretty close to that.

While the Archive function will remove older non-investment
transactions, people who are looking to make the file smaller and
faster do not usually achieve their aims with Archive. Also, there
is no way to re-integrate later.

Remove the quotes as Bob suggested.

I go back to same era. However I don't have such loading problems.

One thing you can try is deleting v old stock quotes. NB take a copy of your
..mny file before you start just in case.

See http://umpmfaq.info/faqdb.php?q=4 and in case you are considering
archiving a) DON'T and b) http://umpmfaq.info/faqdb.php?q=95

Default Money 2005 data files

My history data base is HUGE...records back to 1994. This entire file loads
every time I start Money. It really slows down the program. Is there a way to
load a partial file or break the file up into years? Thanks a lot...
