Yes, you can create your own categories, rename, combine, etc.

I would return Essentials and buy Deluxe. You are clearly a more
advanced user.

Default Customizing expense categories

Forgive my ignorance, but I am using Money Essentials and cannot figure out
how to add to the list of pre-determined expense categories. I previously
ran Money 2002 basic and had no difficulty in doing this. Any suggestions?
