| Where on the laptop did you copy the MNY file to? Try putting it in your "My Documents" folder on your laptop and then double click it from there to start Money and let Money convert it. -Mark "M5" <M5[at]discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:26A3DD34-75C7-419C-AE06-B2B5B85C456D[at]microsoft.com... - quote - > Yes, I tried just opening the mny file. | Yes, I tried just opening the mny file. It did the same, it opened some other windows telling me it was converting the file and then nothing... And I don't have any MBF files, i backed up my info on the desktop and it backs it into a mny file... "Dick Watson" wrote: - quote - > Sure you copied the correct backup file? | Sure you copied the correct backup file? These are not .MNY file but are ..MBF files. Why not just copy of the original .MNY file and try opening it? (No restore involved here at all.) | I had Money 2003 home & business on my desktop (XP). I now have a new laptop (vista). I have downloaded the trial of the 2008 Home & business money version. I copied the backup file (.mny) through network connection from the deskto to the laptop. Everythime I open the new Money and go to restore backup it asks me for my old password, it comes up with some windows, saying that it is converting files and then it opens the home Money screen, but none of my old info is there, no accounts, no bills. I have run the new Moeny as an administrator and then restarted and I have opened the sample file and restarted and nothing helps. Any ideas? Thanks in advance |
