| I am running M2007 Premium. Have the lost portfolio coumns problem. MS Money not helpful, but it was "reassuring" to know that I am not the only one. Don't think I will upgrade to M2008 to solve this problem. I do agree, a real PIA. "Paul Pedersen" wrote: - quote - > I went ahead and upgraded to the full version from the demo. | I went ahead and upgraded to the full version from the demo. (I went with Premium rather than Deluxe because of extra "Insights" and investing info.) So far, so good - modifying the columns in the Portfolio view works fine, just like it should. But then, so did Money 2006, until last week. Other than that, I don't see a lot of obvious difference from 2006, at least in the interface. That's a good thing, because I don't want to have to re-learn a bunch of stuff. I haven't yet gotten around to exploring new features. One thing I will mention. I wasn't one of those whose 2006 was very slow. Mine was quick enough; I had no complaints. Even so, although I haven't actually measured it, 2008 certainly seems faster. That's nice. That and bug fixes (I assume that the porfolio view problem wasn't the only one they fixed) make the upgrade desirable. | As I am sure you know, Money doesn't convert backwards, so you are stuck with upgrading. Please let us know if Money Plus (aka M2008) continues to fix this problem for you. My experience with this odd behavior was with M2007. If Money Plus really fixes it, it would be one (maybe the only) reason to upgrade. -- Bill Becker "Paul Pedersen" wrote: - quote - > I think I found a way to fix it. | I think I found a way to fix it. I upgraded to Money 2008 Deluxe (trial edition). Now all I have to do is export it back to Money 2006 format. Uh-huh. Helluva way to get me to spend more money. | Anyone have a solution for this? I am unable to customize any portfoloio view, or to restore any customized view to the default. Any attempt to do so results in no columns being displayed. If they do, you know the problem is in your data file, and reinstalling won't help. If they don't stick, then the problem is in Money itself. -- Steve B. New Life Home Improvement |

| I am still unable to customize any view. No changes ever get saved, with the exception that some get erased like the Portfolio view did. Should I reinstall? Should I monkey around in the registry, try to find whichever keys this involves and delete them, hoping for an error-free rebuild? | Yes, I have also had this happen and it is a definite PITA. It was awhile ago, but as I remember I did a file repair and then I was able to customize the views again. The other option is to restore a backup from before the problem occurred. I concluded that this is one of Money's many quirks and have kept my performance views very simple to avoid a recurrence. -- Bill Becker "Paul Pedersen" wrote: - quote - > Now the standard "Performance" view is completely empty. | Now the standard "Performance" view is completely empty. Also, I am unable to customize any view, or create a new customized view. It acts like it's working ok, but after I save - poof! It's gone. I tried file repair. It found no problems. | Money 2006 Premium I have a heavily customized portfolio view. All I did was add a column, and Save. My customization is gone! All of it! Nothing left but stock tickers. Now I have to build it all over again. What a PIA! |
