| We have had reported significant problems with Norton and Money in the past. What has previously worked is to uninstall Norton - disabling is not enough - run Money and once completed then reinstall Norton. -- Regards Bob Peel, Microsoft MVP - Money For UK tips & fixes see http://support.microsoft.com/default...d=fh;EN-GB;mny. I do not respond to any emails that I have not specifically asked for. | I too am running Money Plus 17.0.120.727 and cannot update. Does the download, unpacks some files or something, PC "dings" and nothing else happens. Try it again and Money says it is already running. I'm on the admin account. Tried turning down IE 7 security as suggested and also disabling the Windows VISTA firewall. I run Norton Internet Security version 15.0.0.60. Good. | The problem seemed to be resolved by disabling the XP firewall, then allowing the Money update to run, then re-enabling the XP firewall. For good measure I also added the current version of Money (msmoney.exe) to the list of XP firewall exceptions. An exception was there for the old version of Money but not the current version. |

[IE6]Tools-> Options-> Security-> LocalIntranet-> DefaultLevel [IE7]Tools-> InternetOptions-> Security-> LocalIntranet-> DefaultLevel which may be sufficient. If that does not let you updated, and if you are using XP, I would try creating a new user with Administrator privilege. Switch to that user and start Money with a new blank file with no LiveID. Let Money download the updates as that user. The theory is that if the problem is an IE setting, you will get default settings for the new user. If you succeed this way, it would accomplish the download, and it would point toward the reason the other did not work. You can delete the new user later, and your regular IE settings will not have been changed. |

| I am running Microsoft Money Plus Deluxe 17.0.120.727 on Windows XP. Microsoft Money Plus prompts me repeatedly for a required software update. The update appears to download and install successfully. However the next time I run Money, it again prompts to install a required software update. Here are the dialogues presented: "To continue operating successfully, Money requires a software update. Click OK to close Money and begin the udpate now." "Money is now ready to download the new files. To begin the installation, click OK." "Please wait while Microsoft Money Update installs a required software update. This might take several minutes." I reviewed KB 927811. This is for Vista. The article tells me to delete MNYCoreFiles, but I can't see how that will work -- that's where Money's program files are installed! I reviewed the directory where Microsoft Money Plus is installed. There is some sort of new directory created today during the most recent run. The directory is named: "C:\Program Files\MoneyPlus2008\MNYCoreFiles.NEW.{9D6EAA4F-27B2-4407-AC72-4BBD2FCB6ED1}" It contains a .CAB file that seems to have the same name as every program. Example: msmoney.exe.cab Suggestions? |
