It should. Always validate your results. One thing to keep in mind--the
results are applied, last I looked, by reducing the amount of the FIRST
ENTRY category on the wages tab by the total of the entries on the Before
Tax tab.

So as long as I enter the pre-tax contribution on the pre-tax tab then the
tax estimator should work correctly?

I don't think that a before-tax 401K contribution goes on any line
of your 1040. An after-tax contribution to a conventional IRA would.

Tax Line Manager is primarily relevant to the Tax Estimator and the tax
reports. What you really want it to get right is taxable income as not
including these amounts. You need to cross check that. It should be the sum
of everything on the Wages tabs of your paychecks less everything on the
Before Taxes tabs.

Default tax-line manager: 401k transfers on paycheck "before tax" tab

Hi. I'm using Money Plus. When I view the tax-line manager for 2007
transactions I have $0.00 for "Form 1040 > Your IRA contributions".

I currently have the portion of my paycheck that goes to my investment
account as a transfer on the "before tax" tab of the paycheck transaction
entry form. I believe that since this is a transfer I cannot add this
category to the tax-line manager. Is the tax-line manager working as I need
it to? I would have thought that I want the "Your IRA contributions" portion
to reflect the amount that has gone from my paychecks to my investment
account (which is > $0.00).

I searched and found some previous discussions that relate to this (2005
being the most recent) but they didn't clarify this for me.

Thanks and Happy New Year.
