I have subsequently purchased again this past week. But before I entered the new purchase.. I deleted the Stock Symbol of the older ones. | Nope Cal, never did see a response at all. Until yours ![]() As you can see by my post. I do not post just for the sake of posting. Check previous posts. I did find a glitch once and MS sent me Money 2006 deluxe.. I installed that and did not like a few things they did, reverted back to 2004.. Anyhow is there a fix in subsequent versions for this problem? Note the name of the column with the "gain" and look at its definition in Money. For your "COST" "GAIN", there is Cost Basis, Avg cost etc APPRECIATION vs GAIN etc Gain includes - what you made earlier. 2. Want it easy - DELETE the history of the first ABC buy/sale ? Or change dates of buy/sale to 2009 -for now - to see the change. I run into this a lot - ( my file is about 13 years old) - and don't like it either but "that's how they wrote it". And display APPRECIATION - not GAIN. |

| Hi there, I came across this not to long ago. I owned ( lets use a fake company here) ABCcorp.. symbol ( fake again) ABC I then sold off all shares of ABC.at 28.00 Later in the year I purchased a new interest in ABC for 11.00 per share. When it went to 10.88 the MS Money 2004 Deluxe portfolio screen shows I am making money on this new lot of shares. Only thing I can think of is, because Money uses the old symbol and lumps previous stock ownership ( even though you sold it all) to the subsequent purchases. Has this been fixed in later editions of Money? Or is the fix, manual? Such as, before one makes the new purchase of the same company.. to delete the symbol from the details of the closed position.. then when purchasing the new shares.. name the company ABC-2 or something like that.. and then use the correct stock symbol? Would that be the correct way? Odd, that it would not calculate this as a new position. Thanks in Advance Jim |
