| I'm not sure whether you are asking about categorizing the INCOME of the deposit ($1,000 deposit of which $500 is Other Income : Rebates and $500 is Other Income : Gifts Received) which is easy and is done as Cal describes or you want to have it ins separate buckets once it's in the account. When you say "multiple virtual accounts" I hear "subaccounts". E.g., a real account with a real $5,000 balance consisting of sub accounts (cookie jars), one "For Vacation" with a $1,000 "balance", and one for "Christmas Savings" with a $500 "balance", and one for "Day to Day" with a $3,500 "balance". This is very hard to do in Money--which isn't really designed to do it--and, I have argued in the past, entirely unnecessary. Make sure you are using Advanced register. Choose Split as the> deposit, a certain amount will be flagged to category 1, another amount to > category 2, and so on. | I have a single checking account where all of my deposits will go. For every deposit, a certain amount will be flagged to category 1, another amount to category 2, and so on. I want to be able to configure money so that when I make a deposit I can either designate the entire deposit to go to a single category of break it up into individual categories (but still make only one deposit) - or have money automatically do it for me if I tell it to. So, when I make a $1000 deposit in my account I want money to be able to see that deposit and automatically know that even though the total deposit is $1000, the actual deposit should be $150 for category 1, $250 for category 2 and $600 for category 3. I want the same for withdrawals. I guess you could say I want 1 master physical bank account but want money to break the deposits down into multiple virtual accounts. I don't see this functionality available - can this be done? |
