Chase, asked for help, the nice woman on the phone held my hand to successfuly guide me through the complete account installation on Deluxe. It turns out that the FI for Chase Freedom is Chase -- not Chase Credit Cards -- and that no Live ID is required. Again, thank you one and all for your comments and suggestions. T. |

| Chase (Chase/Chemical/Manufacturers Hanover; but not necessarily BankOne) has direct downloads for a fee ($10/month). You can also manually download daily from their website for free. (Note I say daily because some banks only allow monthly--i.e. Statement--downloads). For the automatic direct (fee) download, you have to set it up on their website. -- Peace, BobJ "Cal Learner-- MVP" <via_newsgroup[at]please.tnx> wrote in message news:j2a0o3d9dhqha9hjnb7csvata2e60bico6[at]4ax.com... - quote - > In microsoft.public.money, tony wrote: > > On Jan 5, 11:39 am, "Marilyn & Bob" <Priv...[at]nospam.please> wrote: > > > For third party banks, it does not. > > > I'll have to check with the FI (Chase Credit Card in the instance) > > whether it is direct or not. | For third party banks, it does not. Steve's Explanation _is_ for Premium/Deluxe, but is probably also for Essentials as well. If you do not want to store your passwords on line you will have to 1) Change your bank to one that provides direct access (but often for a fee) OR 2) Log in directly to the bank's website and manually download the updating (.ofx) file. -- Peace, BobJ "tony" <tony[at]well.com> wrote in message news:94ab8f3f-ac8b-48a2-8ac8-dc75c8503bd9[at]l6g2000prm.googlegroups.com... - quote - > On Jan 5, 6:27 am, Steve <resp...[at]online.newsgroup> wrote: > > Steve <resp...[at]online.newsgroup> wrote on 05 Jan 2008 in group > > microsoft.public.money: > > > I just noticed that you mentioned "Essentials" in the subject line. | Can't speak to Essentials. Re. Deluxe: Yes it allows a non LiveID (aka Passport) password, IF (BIG IF) you don't require downloaded transaction data from an FI that doesn't support direct services but is supported via the third party services. Instead a third-party company, perhaps Yodlee, will log in to the bank's web site, using the account name and password you provide. Yodlee will log in just as you would and see the same screens you would. They copy all the data and load it into accounts on the MSN site. Finally, Money syncronizes with the accounts at MSN. Your account name and password for the FI's web site are stored in Money, and you can change them at any time. Using the MSN accounts allows Yodlee and Microsoft to give you an unchanging interface -- you just sync with the MSN accounts. Every time the FI changes their web site, Yodlee has to redo their code. Sometimes they take a week or two to do the reprogramming. In that case, your downloads will fail during that time. It usually happens invisibly. My bank kept changing their page daily the last time, so it was a few weeks before the automatic downloads started working again. Check with your FI. Perhaps there's a place on their web site where you can *manually* download an OFX file. That's what I did while my bank was futzing around. Some people prefer the manual method to the automatic synchronization. Free tip: If your bank hasn't yet implemented "multi-factor login" where you provide a password, then answer personal questions, you can expect the previously mentioned several-week outage while your FI gets it right. This is an "enhancement" mandated by one the the federal government's TLA agencies to improve on-line security. -- Steve B. New Life Home Improvement |

I do not want to store my passwords at MSN in Live ID, but I don't> To change your settings so you can use online updates for this bank, click Next. seem to have any other choice. What am I misunderstanding, and what must I do now? Thank you for your attention T, |
