Default Re: Obtainig refund for money essentials

I had the same problem. I can't tell you how many hours I wasted trying to
get Essentials to accept my Product Key to extend my service and then trying
to get to the refund screen.

I'm glad I found the refund link. I was thinking I might have to pay $35 to
talk to customer service to get a refund.

I want to acknowlegde here this very useful response from Mark. That did it,
thanks a lot!

At least following this link I could fill the (apparently) correct web form,
and (finally!) got a message that clearly states they have received my
request and will process the refund. Phew!

I still want to mention that there's no reason the links from the
"digitalriver" website do not point anything is this direction... That would
have made it soooo much easier!

Thanks Mark.

Default Obtainig refund for money essentials

OK, here's the story:

I've been using MS Money 2003 for a long time. Then this year I decided to
upgrade to a newer version, so I downloaded a evaluation copy of Money Plus
and used for the evaluation period. When it came the time to purchase it, I
compared the features for the different MS Money types here:

http://www.microsoft.com/money/Produ...ve_tab=Compare

and saw that MS Money Essentials can do all that I need, so I decided to
purchase this one, directly from the Microsoft website (which links to some
"store.digitalriver.com").

However, I didn't read the fine print in the bottom of the page:
"* Important note – Microsoft Money Essentials will not be able to open
previous Money (Money Deluxe, Money Premium, or Money Home & Business) or
Quicken files. If you are upgrading from a previous version of Money or
Quicken, Money Plus Deluxe may be the right solution for you."

And Money Essentials is unable to read the file I've been using with the
Money Plus Trial version. Actually, from that note, a file created by MS
Money Plus *should* be readable by Essentials (Plus is not an *old*
version!), but apparently it isn't.

So, I'm trying to obtain a refund of my purchase, then purchase MS Money
Plus (even if it has a lot of stuff I don't need) just because I need to be
able to read the old Money file.

so here's the catch: It's at least a huge pain to get a refund from them:
1. In the website they state that purchases with credit card can only be
cancelled on the same day of the purchase. They provide a web form to request
the order cancellation, which I have already filled 4 time since the order
was posted several hour ago, and still got *no answer* from them. So, it's
more like: "Purchases on credit card can only be cancelled on the same day
*if* you can manage to contact us... otherwise, we're sorry, it's not our
problem..."

2. They have a FAQ that gives the following address for requesting refunds:
https://store.digitalriver.com/servl...ThemeID=138200
They say to 'select "Request a Return."' there. But, in the page, there's
*no such option*!!!

So, basically, it's simple on paper: 30-day money back guarantee... but good
luck trying to get it, at least if you purchased from the MS website!

I'll post any updates if I have any...
