| Good morning, As a follow up, I just want to let you know how I solve my problem... So after setting the clock back in time (2007), I ran the internal "fix" program. The log shown me that the program fix something in the "bills" but I don't know what it is or on what record it is. But now it's working and I didn't even had to use the "Knock the Bills" option... Best regards. All my information, accounts > and everything else is here. So... back to the previous year and delete something. I can't find the discussion. So what I would try is set the date back on the computer and open a copy of the file (with a different name). Then File-> Repair-> RemoveAllBillsData. Save that file, and see if it still works after correcting the system date. I it does, you can either try to figure out which bill it was, or just continue from there. The Remove All Bills Data feature would usually be used by people who have experienced their Money file to run excessively slow. To get some information within the program, File-> Repair-> RemoveAllBillsData Read the information. Then click cancel. Before proceeding, make an extra copy or backup of your file in case you want to undo something. The problem will be that if you remove all bills, you will probably want to add at least some of your bills back. This can be done manually with the aid of the reports that you print out before removing the bills. A technique that could help simplify re-entering your bills afterward would be to go your register and selecting a representative instance of your past bill and selecting "Make Recurring" (Ctrl+E). This would be especially helpful if the bill is complex, such as involving a split. - quote - > Did I miss something? > Did I forgot to uncheck an option that make Money 2007 useless after 12/31/07? > Is it a Microsoft problem (like their sync server have a problem with 2008)? > A Microsoft trick to be sure that I will update to Money 2008 or whatever > the name is? > Something else? > Any idea on how to solve the problem? | Hello there, I would like to submit to your attention something I never saw in this forum before. I'm using Money 2007 (retail box, original CD) under Windows XP SP2, all updates done. Everything was working fine for several months until recently. I used for the last time Money on 12/30 with no problems at all... 2 days ago, I opened Money and something weird happend. Money opened, load my file without any problem, I waited as unusal a couple of second the display of the "wheel" with money spend by categories but that never happened... Instead, Money was taking 98/100% of my CPU time and make itself unusable i.e. I cannot click on any menu option, I cannot click on any link... Basically I cannot click on anything inside Money windows ! I did some research over this Internet and this forum and I tried: - The Microsoft recovery software: Cannot use it because it's asking for a password and I'm not using any of it. - I cannot "knock the bill" since I cannot click on any Menu option. Same for using the inside recovery option. I cannot access it. - Of course, I uninstalled and reinstalled Money on my computer (and delete the folder) - I also installed Money on another computer, with a fresh install of Windows XP and had the same problem... - I even tried to use a software called "Recovery for Money" from www.officerecovery.com but when I try to use it (demo version). It cannot fix the file since it's a "Template ???!!!!???? file". - It 's working fine with the sample.mny file. - I'm not using the Windows Live ID thing or anything like that. No password either. So, I was trying to figure how I can recover my information back when, this morning I got a idea. Since it was working fine until the last day of 2007, but seems to not working anymore in 2008... Yeah, you got it, I decided to change the date on my computer for December, 4th, 2007 and guess what, my file open, as usual without any problems at all. All my information, accounts and everything else is here. So... Did I miss something? Did I forgot to uncheck an option that make Money 2007 useless after 12/31/07? Is it a Microsoft problem (like their sync server have a problem with 2008)? A Microsoft trick to be sure that I will update to Money 2008 or whatever the name is? Something else? Any idea on how to solve the problem? Changing the date on the computer is a temporary trick and I would like to be able to use Money "normally". Thanks in advance for your time and your patience... |
